For those wondering about the future of the Chicago Rush (and even for those not wondering), the team’s Adrenaline Rush Dancers will hold auditions for the 2013 team starting in November. Which is all some of us really care about regarding the Arena Football League franchise. OK, maybe not all, but close to it.
“We’re looking for the overall package,” ARD coordinator Gloria Esposito said. “A girl who is beautiful inside and out, with a great personality, and dance or cheer background. They don’t have to be technically trained, but anything they can add to the team is always a plus.”
There are two non-mandatory prep classes that can benefit those planning to audition.
“Our prep classes are geared toward giving the girls a chance to see what a practice will be like,” Gloria said. “We go over all the necessary items that they will need to know for auditions as well as the season.”
Prep Class 1: Jazz/Pom — Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. (Check-in starts at 7)
Prep Class 2: Hip Hop Tuesday, Nov. 20 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. (Check-in starts at 7)
First Round of Auditions: Sunday, Nov. 25 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Check-in starts at 8)
Mini Camp Day 1: Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 7-10 p.m. (Check-in starts at 6:45)
Mini Camp Day 2: Thursday, Nov. 29 from 7-10 p.m. (Check-in starts at 6:45)
The audition fee is $40 in advance and $50 the day of auditions. Prep classes are $20 per session. Dancers registering for auditions and prep classes in advance will pay $70 total.
With the exception of the finals, all rounds of auditions will be held at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont and are closed to the public.
Interested females (sorry, no guys on the ARD) who have questions about auditions may contact Gloria at dancers@arenarush.com or telephone the Rush front office at (855) 787-4946.

Your humble correspondent will look forward to the final ARD selections and hopefully providing video to all the faithful followers in cyberspace.
Speaking of good moves, the Philadelphia Philles named Ryne Sandberg their third-base coach for 2013. Which positions the former Chicago Cubs second baseman as the replacement for Phils manager Charlie Manuel whose contract runs through next season. No guarantee he will replace Manuel. You want a guarantee? OK, the Hall of Famer will stay busier waving Philies runners home than will be his Cubs coaching counterpart.
* Speaking of managers, the Boston Red Sox fired Bobby Valentine after one season. The Red Sox (69-93) finished last — 26 game out — in the American League East. All of which must have Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen wondering where he can get a deal like that. In his first year with the Marlins, the team went 69=93 and finished last in the National League East — 29 games out.
* Speaking of bad seasons, Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein cautions against anticipating immediate improvement for 2013. Too bad those low expectations don’t come with lowered ticket prices.
Thursday was Derrick Rose’s 24th birthday. It also was a day for the release of another adidas video that chronicles the Chicago Bulls guard’s efforts to come back from anterior-cruciate ligament surgery. Oh, and Thursday was the official launch of the D Rose 3 sneaker.
The latest in “The Return of D Rose” series is Episode 4: “Push.” In it, he says, “When I’m working out, I always say if it’s painful, see how long you can go through it because a normal person would stop right when they feel pain. I try to see how long I can go through it because I try to make myself different than other people.”

With another Thursday having passed by this week (well, that’s the assumption we are making today in that it’s Friday — provided that you are reading it today or a subsequent Friday), that means another edition of “Sports & Torts” co-hosted by David Spada and Elliott Harris has been placed in the archives at talkzone.com. Or wherever such programming is placed.
The guests on the Oct. 4 show were Dallas Cowboys legend Bob Lilly and bikini conpetitor/businesswoman Gwen Summers.
The Gwen Summers on the show is not to be confused with the adult actress of the same name. The “Sports & Torts” Gwen has her own company krushtgrear.com, which sells fitness apparel and more.
There will be no links on this site to the other Gwen Summers. Those interested most likely can find those themselves.
Speaking of the Arizona Cardinals (well, we might have been when we ran that photo of Jaime Edmondson), here is some video featuing their cheerleaders:
