Jaric on Bulls Could Be Beautiful Situation

October 20, 2012 @ No Comments

For one of the few times this season, the Chicago Bulls played a home game and your humble correspondent did not attend. Of course, that meant missing a chance to see newcomer Marko Jaric on the court. He played one minute in the Bulls’ 92-81 exhibition victory over the Minnestoa Timberwolves on Friday (Oct. 19).

A photo of Marko Jaric or Adriana Lima? Decisions, decisions.

The former first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Clippers (and subsequently traded to Minnesota) had one rebound and blocked a shot during his brief appearance. For those of us who do not pay particularly close attention to what transpires in the preseason, it does appear Jaric might have a tough time making the roster as a reserve guard.

And that would be something of a shame. Not that he is a phenomenal player who will offset the absence of star guard Derrick Rose, who is out after offseason anterior-cruciate ligament surgery. But the reality is Jaric is married to Brazilian model Adriana Lima.

Meaning the hope for some of us who amuse easily is that he would be a member of the Bulls for the 2012-13 season, and she would be a presence at the home games. All that might be nothing more than unrealistic expectations, especially considering Lima gave birth to the couple’s second daughter on Sept. 12. So even in the best of circumstances, it’s conceivable Adriana might not make it to the United Center.

But, hey, a guy can dream, can’t he? And whether that guy is Jaric trying to hook on with an NBA team or someone else hoping to see a supermodel at a Bulls game, it’s pretty much the same — even if the pay is far greater being on an NBA roster than it is wandering around the United Center in search of someone who has been in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

For some in the audience, all this might seem as nothing more than mere verbiage designed to provide a reason to run Adriana’s photograph. If that’s a crime, yours truly will consider pleading guilty to the charge. But only after locating a photo and/or video of the aforementioned Mrs. Jaric.

Speaking of the Bulls and video, another edition of the adidas-produced “The Return of D Rose” series was released with Episode 5: “Drive.”

The videos chronicle the life of Derrick Rose as he recovers from offseason anterior-cruciate ligament surgery. “Drive” covers his recuperation motivation. You can regard this as tremendous insight into the life of Rose or as ingenious marketing. Or both.

The National League Championship journeys back to San Francisco for Game 6 after the Giants defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-0 Friday at Busch Stadium. Speaking of Journey with a capital “J,” there is a video featuring a takeoff on that music group’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” that has to do with the Giants. OK, yes, the Chicago White Sox used it before that, and “The Sopranos” featured it in that HBO series finale, so this does not qualify as being entirely original. But it’s not bad — unless you are a Cardinals fan wishing the series already was over, and the Cardinals were preparing to face the Detroit Tigers in the World Series.

Anyway, here you go with some video:

OK, now that that’s out of the way, here are some of the results from the most recent effort from the video-research department around here:
