Thursday thoughts (or what passes for thinking around the editorial offices at elliottharris.com): The highlight — with the emphasis on “high” — of the Chicago Bulls’ 104-88 victory over the Bucks at Milwaukee on Wednesday (Jan. 30) was Nate Robinson’s performance — especially his one-handed slam dunk. He had 16 of his 24 points in the second quarter. Included was his long-awaited first dunk in two seasons.
* “My teammates have been teasing me all season, talking about how I’m a three-time slam-dunk champion, and I didn’t get no dunks,” Robinson said. “My fans have been asking me when I’m going to dunk again, so hopefully they’ll get off my back and I don’t have to dunk no more this season.” Someone needs to tell Robinson he needs to dunk for the fans at the United Center, too. Preferably this season.
* Speaking of the Bulls and their home games, Derrick Rose is taking contact in practice in his comeback from offseason anterior-cruciate ligament surgery. His return is expected after the Feb. 17 all-star game. The guess here is Feb. 21 vs. the Miami Heat at the United Center. You don’t expect his return to come on the road, do you?
* The Bulls recorded their 41st consecutive victory in games in which they score 100 or more points. That ties the San Antonio Spurs (2003-05) for the longest such streak in NBA history.
* The Chicago Blackhawks lost in overtime 3-2 in a shootout to the Minnesota Wild. Meaning the Hawks’ winning streak ends after six games to open the NHL season. But the Hawks’ record is 6-0-1. Those of us who are not hockey mavens are at a loss to understand how a loss is not a loss. Those who are familiar with this site will understand that this paragraph serves as justification to run a photo of someone in a Hawks sweater (not that any justification is needed). And for those of you wondering who is featured in the photo (and even for those who are not), it’s Tasha Reign, the adult actress who previously appeared here when she was in Chicago for Exxxotica 2012.
* Bulls forward Jimmy Butler has 10 double-digit scoring games in his career. Six of those efforts have come in his last seven games. Meaning perhaps that injuries to Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer might help the Bulls in the long run — provided that coach Tom Thibodeau shows the same confidence in the postseason that he has recently.

If it’s Thursday (and it says here that it indeed is — based on the fact that yesterday was Wednesday and you are reading this on Jan. 30, 2013, or some subsequent Thursday), then it is time for “Sports & Torts” at noon Chicago time on talkzone.com. Co-hosted by David Spada and Elliott Harris, the highly acclaimed interview program (well, it’s certainly highly acclaimed in the Spada and Harris households, as well as reportedly elsewhere) has an entire show with one guest on Jan. 31. Former New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Rosey Grier is the guest. He has fascinating tales to tell — from his humble beginnings working the fields as a child in Georgia to becoming a standout player at Penn State to the NFL and beyond.
The one-hour show also will be available via podcast later in the afternoon.
