Monday meanderings: There may be more than a few Chicago Cubs followers saddened by the demotion of outfielder Tony Campana to make room on the roster for outfielder Scott Hairston. Without question the speedy center fielder became a quick fan favorite. Campana, who was designated for assignment, should be back once he either improves hit hitting, can figure a way to steal first base or Major League Baseball adopts a designated runner roster spot.
* While the Chicago Blackhawks were defeating the Nashville Predators on Sunday, Carrie Underwood was winning her sixth Grammy. She took home the solo country performance of the year for her song “Blown Away.” She thanked — among others — her husband Mike Fisher of the Predators, who coincidentally were blown away by Corey Crawford’s goaltending in a 3-0 Blackhawks victory.
* Speaking of attractive females (and even if we weren’t), it is difficult to tell who is more excited — those folks anticipating the release of the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue on Tuesday or those folks who participated in putting the magazine together. And that includes the models who will take part in promoting the issue — as if the magazine needs a whole lot of help in that regard. Model Genevieve Morton — @genevievemorton — tweeted: Sunday night: So excited i cant sleep, this @SI_Swimsuit week is gonna amazing. She is to be among the swimsuit models appearing on Monday night’s “Late Show With David Letterman.” SI has been doing the swimsuit thing so long that you’d think at some point AARP might come out with a calendar of its own featuring former SI models (no charge for the suggestion, AARP).
* Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah may sit out the all-star game because of his plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Of more immediate concern is whether Noah will sit out the Bulls home game Monday against the San Antonio Spurs. In each instance, neither game is as important as any the Bulls might play in the postseason when they really would want him on the court.
* Speaking of the Bulls game Monday, the 2012-13 Chicago Luvabulls poster is to be handed out to fans 21 and older at the game while supplies last. As promised, here are more photos of members of the Luvabulls dance team. If things go according to plan (and occasionally they do around here), there will be videos of the Luvabulls performing as part of Tuesday’s effort.
