Sunday smorgasbord: Deal or no deal? If you’re a Chicago Bears fan, would you trade current coach Marc Trestman for his predecessor Lovie Smith? And saying you want neither is not an option. Feel free to wait until after Sunday’s Bears-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, if you like.
* Inquiring minds also want to know: If the Bears and Bucs switched quarterbacks with Jay Cutler playing for Tampa Bay and Josh McCown playing for the Bears, would either team’s record be better?
* As long as we’re daydreaming about a couple of quarterbacks, would either the Bears or Bucs be willing to make a Cutler-McCown deal? Guessing there are some Bears fans — and possibly some Bucs fans — who would be.
* Speaking of Lovie Smith’s return to Soldier Field, something says another Tampa Bay employee will receive even more scrutiny. That would be rookie receiver Mike EvansBilly Howton (1952), Jimmy Orr (1958) and Marques Colston (2006) are the only other rookies to achieve that feat. Meaning the Bears might want to cover him.
