New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has breezed to the top spot in the 2012 Bloomberg Businessweek/Horrow Sports Ventures Power 100 ranking. The list, compiled with marketing firm CSE and Nielsen/E-Poll N-Score data, ranks athletes based on performance, endorsement potential, “the popularity and viewing audience of their sports, endorsement earnings, and their reach on social media.”
The NFL had 26 players in the third annual poll, the NBA had 20, and Major League Baseball had 16. Absent from the list is cyclist Lance Armstrong, who was No. 8 in 2011. Last year’s No. 1, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, fell to No. 51. Brees was No. 25 in 2010 and No. 7 in 2011.
Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, the reigning NBA MVP, definitely rose in the rankings. He was No. 99 last year and No. 30 for 2012. Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews went from unranked to No. 69. For Chicago sports fans, that’s it. No Bears, Cubs or White Sox.
Albert Pujols, who recently signed one of the most lucrative contracts in sports history with the Los Angeles Angels, dropped from No. 9 to No. 26.
The highest-ranking female is tennis ace Serena Williams at No. 25, who was No. 18 last year. Second among the women is Maria Sharapova, who rose from No. 83 to 33.

THe always entertaining April Rose takes a look at Bikini Basketball Entertainment in her latest installment of “Maximum Exposure” and model Vivian Kindle. And other things as well. But for some reason, Vivian stands out. OK, maybe a couple of reasons:
And a little something for the fashion-conscious from Maxim:
Speaking of fashion, Hooters Girls always are in style. Two of them — Gianna and Jackie — stopped by the talkzone.com studios to appear on “Sports & Torts” with David Spada and Elliott Harris.
