Chicago Sky’s Feet Feat: ‘Shoes of Hope’ Event

May 8, 2012 @ No Comments

The Chicago Sky hopes to put its best foot forward this season. The WNBA team will do exactly that — although not exactly in the realm of playing basketball — when Sky players, coaches and staff participate with Samaritan’s Feet in a “Shoes of Hope” event Friday (May 11) at Lafollette Park in Chicago from 4-7 p.m.

The editorial staff at elliottharris.com is pulling out all the stops for Game 5 of the Bulls-Sixers NBA first-round playoff series ...

They will wash the feet and provide shoes for more than 1,000 underprivileged youngsters selected by Building a Healthier Austin to participate. The event is part of WNBA Cares Week of Service. Lafollette Park is located at 1333 N. Laramie Ave. For more information or to volunteer for the event, persons may call (312) 994-5982.

“To know that 1,000 Chicago children will be directly impacted and have the footwear they need for protection, school and play because of ‘Shoes of Hope’ is a true inspiration to our team,” Sky general manager and coach Pokey Chatman said. “The Chicago Sky and our Foundation, Sky Cares is honored to be working with Samaritan’s Feet and to be participating in such an influential program.”

The Sky’s preseason starts Thursday (May 10) at 7 p.m. against the Washington Mystics at New Trier High School in Winnetka.

Monday was media day. Here is a little sampling with forward Swin Cash, acquired in an offseason trade, among the players of interest:

Wondering whether it’s too soon for White Sox fans to be depressed about a 13-17 record after losing three in a row (3-7 record in last 10 games) or too soon for Cubs fans to be elated about a 12-17 record after winning two in a row (6-4 in last 10).

... which explains why photos of two Luvabulls -- Lauren L. (top) and Lauren M. -- are featured in advance of Tuesday night's contest at the United Center.

Wondering whether Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau thinks he is in the NFL the way he is so secretive about a player’s status (center Joakim Noah is a game-time decision; on one leg, really?).

Speaking of the Bulls (and even if we were not), it’s another in a series of links to a Chicago Luvabulls dance team member. As time appears to be running out on the Bulls season, the editorial staff at elliottharris.com feels compelled to continue running video of members of the Luvabulls. Doing so also is intended to help ease Bulls fans’ pain. To view video of Lauren M., you can click here.

And as long as we’re providing video of Luvabulls named Lauren, here is one of Lauren L., who like Lauren M. is in her first year with the Luvabulls. To view her video, you can click here.
