Bulls Fans All Atwitter Now That Rose Tweets

August 14, 2012 @ No Comments

Random thoughts while wondering whether the Houston Astros — who have a big-league worst 38-79 record after losing 7-1 to the Chicago Cubs on Monday (Aug. 13) — really will be shifting to the American League West next season or whether they will be relegated to Class AAA:

Erika was a co-captain on the 2011-12 Chicago Luvabulls.

* On hand on a rainy evening to view the Cubs-Astros game at Wrigley Field was an announced crowd of 31,452. As Chicago Tribune sports scribe Paul Sullivan Tweeted: Get used to it. Just a guess that the White Sox would be happy to get used to that figure for most of their remaining home games.

* Speaking of the Sox, attendance in Toronto for their 3-2, 11-inning loss to the Blue Jays was 16,828 (34 percent of capacity). If that makes the Sox and/or their fans feel any better. OK, probably not.

* Speaking of feeling better, the news that recuperating Chicago Bulls star guard Derrick Rose has joined Twitter (you can find him at @drose) was met with glee in some quarters. Of course, one of those quarters was not folks concerned that in addition to recuperating from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, now they can be concerned he might be vulnerable to carpal tunnel syndrome.

* Speaking of Rose, former Bulls star Michael Jordan thinks he has an advantage over Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf because MJ knows what it’s like to come back from injury and would not take the injured athlete’s feelings for granted. Which sure makes it sound as if Jordan’s feelings have not quite recovered from his 1985 broken foot when he wanted back on the court before the Bulls would let him.

* Speaking of athletes with health concerns, Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher says he expects his knee to bother him all season. Which also means Urlacher’s knee will bother Bears fans all season.

* Speaking of Bears players with possible nagging concerns, defensive lineman Julius Peppers had no comment for the media after reports surfaced that he might have had benefitted from fraudulent grade awarding while a student at the University of North Carolina. If anyone around here handed out grades, his reaction would qualify as an incomplete in mass communications. Then again, he is more into smash communications.

* U.S. Olympic swim champ Michael Phelps appears to have landed an endorsement deal with Louis Vuitton. Maybe the upscale company has come up with waterproof merchandise.

* For those hoping to see video today from Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2012, tune in Wednesday.

A friendly reminder that Chicago Luvabulls auditions will be Aug. 25. For information, you can click here. And, yes, a mention of the tryouts is more than enough justification for running a non-gratuitous photo of a Luvabull.

Today we are happy to feature Erika. To see video of her, you can click here. Erika was a co-captain on the 2011-12 team.

Speaking of dancing and dancers, here is some video from ArenaBowl XXV that featured dancers from Arena Football League teams. In charge of the dancers was Gloria Esposito, who runs the Adrenaline Rush Dancers (she also is responsible for the video of the 2012 Net10 Dream Team; thank you, Gloria):

OK, the video-research department somehow came up with this video of Miranda Jordan from Playboy.com. Maybe while the video crew was looking for Michael Jordan videos? OK, possibly not.
