April Rose, Danielle Moinet & More

October 30, 2011 @ No Comments

By the time some of you read this, it will be too late to view April Rose as part of Comcast SportsNet’s “Chicago Huddle.” Well, there’s always next week. The show airs at 9:30 a.m. Chicago time.

April Rose looks good in stripes, among other attire.

The Bears even have Sunday as a bye week, and she still has to work hard. Well, better April than us, I suppose. As far as working hard and especially so for purposes of posting photographs and/or videos.

On Saturday, April was at the Georgia-Florida game in Jacksonville, Fla., as part of Athlon Sports’ coverage team. As exciting as that Southeastern Conference football contest might have been, April adds her own excitement wherever she goes.

A favorite around these parts, April also has time for other endeavors as the accompanying videos should show. A little “Maximum Exposure” and a Maxim Hometown Hottie reveal featuring someone who looks an awful lot like former Loop Rock Girl Lindsey (probably because it is) make for wonderful pregame fodder. After the game and during, too, if anyone wants to know.

OK, cue the videos:

If it’s Sunday, it’s also time for some NFL picks. And one of our favorite pigskin prognosticators, former Chicago Bliss defensive back Danielle Moinet. She posts her picks at turdfergusonblog.com, where she also offers commentary on her selections.

We don't think Danielle Moinet is demonstrating a proper three-point stance, but does anyone really care?

Delightful Danielle is 22-13 through seven weeks of the season. Her Week 8 selections:

Carolina over Minnesota, Detroit over Denver, Pittsburgh over New England, Dallas over Philadelphia and San Diego over Kansas City.

Of course, the site where her full commentary can be found also offers non-NFL related stories (oh, and photos!) for those so inclined to consume such material.

For those who find NFL facts and figures (non-female division) as a form of excitement, the NFL publicity mill always provides plenty. Here is some for Week 8:

Through seven weeks of the season, 54 games have been decided by seven or fewer points. Seven games in Week 7 fell into that category.

MOST GAMES DECIDED BY SEVEN-OR-FEWER POINTS THROUGH WEEK 7
1999: 55
2011: 54
1981: 51
1988: 50
1982: 50

The 4,629 points scored in 2011 are the most through seven weeks in NFL history. The 44.9 points per game average is the highest through seven weeks since 1970. For those who think the second sentence is superfluous, in a league with fewer teams, there theoretically could have been a higher per-game average but not as many total point scored. OK?

If the nine teams averaging at least 25 points per game continue to do so for the season, they would tie 2008 for the most teams to average 25+ points per game in a season.

2011 POINTS PER GAME LEADER POINTS
New Orleans: 34.1
Green Bay: 32.9
Buffalo: 31.3
New England: 30.8
San Francisco: 27.8
Detroit: 27.7
Houston: 26.0
Baltimore: 25.8
New York Giants: 25.7

MOST TEAMS TO AVG. 25.0+ POINTS PER GAME IN A SEASON‘2008: 9
2009: 8
2007: 8
1975: 8
1967: 8

If the Buffalo Bills win Sunday’s home game (home being defined loosely in that the Bills are playing at Toronto), they will become the eight team to win its first four home games of a season after starting the previous season 0-4 at home. The others:

* Finished the season undefeated at home

When the England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers square off Sunday, the NFL’s top passing offense (Pats: 350.4 per game) and top pass defense (Steelers: 171.9) will be on display.

Sunday Night Football features Philadelphia’s top-rated rush offense (170 yards per game) and Dallas’ top-ranked rush defense (69.7 yards).

With 38 rushing yards, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson can register 750 yards and eight touchdowns for the fifth consecutive season.

The only other players to start their career with five such seasons are Jim Brown, LaDainian Tomlinson and Emmitt Smith. Tomlinson started with eight straight, while Brown and Smith had seven.
