The Chicago Bulls are expected to be without injured center Joakim Noah for Game 4 Sunday (May 6) vs. the 76ers in Philadelphia. The Bulls trail the first-round series 2-1. Which means the Bulls have one more playoff victory than the Dallas Mavericks, who were swept out of the postseason by the Oklahoma City Thunder. If that’s any consolation to Bulls fans (and the guess here is that it is not). So does that mean the Mavs no longer are defending NBA champions now that they no longer will be defending against anyone?
Perhaps Luvabulls rookie Megan can take some Bulls fans' minds off of starting center Joakim Noah's injured ankle.
* Speaking of having one more something than the other guy … Let the record show everyone on the planet — heading into the California Angels’ game Sunday — has at least as many home runs this season as Albert Pujols. He has zero and has gone a career-long 33 games and 137 at-bats without a homer. If it’s any consolation to Angels fans (and the guess here is that it is not — or at least not much), an Angels first baseman did homer Saturday. Mike Trumbo did that, while Pujols — who signed as a free agent with L.A. in the offseason for $240 million for 10 years — sat out the contest.
* Speaking of Los Angeles and statistics involving a zero, the Dodgers defeated the Chicago Cubs 5-1 Saturday, Cubs right-hander Chris Volstad fell to 0-4 this season and is on an 0-9 streak dating to July 10. If it’s any consolation to Cubs fans and/or Volstad (and the guess once again is that it is not) is that the streak does cover 17 starts.
* Adam Dunn’s two-run, ninth-inning homer gave the Chicago White Sox a 3-2 victory vs. the Tigers in Detroit. He has eight home runs this season after hitting only 11 this season. Dunn is an early contender for comeback player of the year after batting .159 in 2011 when he was some Sox fans’ go-away player of the year.
* I’ll Have Another won the 138th Kentucky Derby. Wondering how many heavy drinkers are kicking themselves for not betting the horse who paid $32.60, $13.80 and $9.
Another day, another chance to feature a member of the Chicago Luvabulls in a video. The plan was to spread these out over a long playoff run by the Bulls, but something says the editoral staff at elliottharris.com might have to do so even if (when???) the Bulls no longer are in the postseason.
