Bulls Offering a Variety of Promotional Items

November 2, 2012 @ No Comments

A quick glance at the Chicago Bulls, and you have the feeling the team’s theme should be a very Cubs-like “Wait till next year.” Well, in terms of the Bulls’ promotional giveaways, if nothing else. Meaning 2013, not next season.

The Brooklynettes are waiting for their regular-season debut.

With the status of star guard Derrick Rose uncertain as he rehabs from offseason anterior-cruciate ligament surgery, there are no Rose-related promotional items until March 27 against the Miami Heat — a team that presumably wouldn’t need any promotional item to attract fans to the United Center. But Budweiser — which also sponsors the Luvabulls poster promotional giveaway on Feb. 11 against San Antonio — is the brand that will sponsor a Rose bobblehead. Budweiser also spnsored a magnetic can koozie for the season opener Wednesday (Oct. 31). Other Bulls bobblehead promotions: Luol Deng on Jan. 28, Carlos Boozer on March 31, Joakim Noah on April 11 and Taj Gibson in the regular-season home finale April 17.

The Bulls; 2012-13 list of promotional giveaways (all items are distributed “while supplies last” — mainly because it’s difficult to distribute items when there are no more to distribute):

Did someone say Chicago Luvabulls? And if not, why not? The dance team affiliated with the Chicago Bulls made its first appearance of the 2012-13 campaign in the season opener Wednesday (Oct. 31). The Luvabulls were much more of an artistic success than were their basketball counterparts. Even if the Bulls did defeat the Sacramento Kings 93-87.

One of these days, your humble correspondent will figure a way to provide video of the Luvabulls from a closer location than the one used for the following footage. Until that day comes, these videos will have to suffice:

If you want up close, we have center Joakim Noah in the Bulls locker room after the season opener:

As long as we’re on the subject of NBA dance teams (and even if we weren’t), the Brooklyn Nets’ home opener was postponed because of the effects of Hurrican Sandy. So now the Nets are to have their home debut on Saturday. Which means that the team’s dancer team — the Brooklynettes — is yet to perform in the regular season. But that won’t stop anyone around here from looking for some video of the dancers (even if we do admit being partial to the Luvabulls). So here you go:

Leola Bell, the February Playmate, was a great “Sports & Torts” guest. Maybe Ciara Price will be, too, one of these weeks. Photo: Ryan Astamendi

OK, so sometimes even the best-laid plans of mice and men go awry. And so it was on the Nov. 1 edition of “Sports & Torts” with co-hosts David Spada and Elliott Harris. The interview with former Arkansas and Chicago Bears great Dan Hampton went off, as scheduled. The one with Ciara Price, the November 2011 Playboy Playmate, did not. Ciara woke up too late. Must have enjoyed herself at a Halloween party. Or something.

If things go according to plan (the revised one), there will be an interview with Ciara. It will be taped so that the next time we promote her appearance on the talkzone.com show, it actually occurs. Until that actually occurs, we will amuse ourselves by running a photo of a Playmate who did appear on the show, Leola Bell. Yes, some of us amuse easily; it’s made substantially easier by easing in a photo of Leola.

Yes, it is time for some random video. Or precisely picked video. As if it matters whether it’s one or the other. Anyway, here is the result of countless hours of effort by the video-research department at elliottharris.com:

Smartly done by the folks at MIT (you expected anything less than that?):

Cybergirls Leanna Decker and Rebecca Carter don’t do much dancing in this, but is that really a problem for anyone?

Rebecca doesn’t do much dancing in this one, either. The complaint department at elliottharris.com is standing by. Not really. The complaint department around here isn’t even sitting by. Mainly because the complaint department doesn’t see much to complain about:
