Bulls Painstakingly Guarded About Rose’s Return

January 23, 2013 @ No Comments

Midweek musings: Chicago Bulls star guard Derrick Rose is progressing in his rehab from offseason ACL surgery. He is taking more contact in practice, but coach Tom Thibodeau cautions about expecting Rose’s return to come too soon. He wants Rose to be medically cleared. Not to mention mentally clear. This uch seems clear: For the Bulls to challenge for an NBA title, Rose — as well as his teammates — need to function at an all-star level. Which would be more miraculous than an early return by Rose.

A photo of a Blackhawks player or one of Loop Rock Girl Shannon? No contest.

* The Chicago Blackhawks improved to 3-0 with a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues in the Hawks’ home opener on Tuesday (Jan. 22). The last time the Hawks accomplished tat feat was the 1972-73 season. Whoever said it would be a cold day before the Hawks won their first three games of the season is correct. Unless single-digit temperatures don’t count as cold days.

* For what it’s worth, Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who was not voted to the Pro Bowl, tweeted Tuesday:
Im not in the pro bowl. But its my own fault. I declined to play in it therefore when my number was supposed to be called they past me and then he added: Well..I declined because I had to get an mri on my knee. But turns out im fine.

* Some wrestling promoter ought to find a way to sign Lance Armstrong and Manti Te’o to be tag-team partners.

* Tuesday was the anniversary of the death of former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. A candlelight vigil attracted “at least 150 supporters,” the Associated Press reported. Because people who turn a blind eye to the sexual abuse of children ought to be revered. Well, perhaps in State College, Pa., and the world of Nittany Lions football, they do.

Because of the lateness of the Chicago Bulls-Los Angeles Lakers game Monday, the editorial staff at elliottharris.com was unable (OK, maybe more like unwilling) to post all the video that your humble correspondent had taken. Which is a shame because there was more footage of the Luvabulls dance team. Also the Swingin’ Seniors and Benny the Bull and the Elevators dunkfest. Better late than never. Here you go with some video:

For those who follow tennis (and even for those who do not), Sloane Stephens upset Serena Williams in the Australian Open.

Sorry, Paul Krause and Chris Doleman fans. This will have to do.

If today is Wednesday (and reliable sources say it is — provided that you are reading this on Jan 23, 2013, or a subsequent Wednesday), then it means we are only a day away from another edition of “Sports & Torts” at noon Thursday on talkzone.com. The one-hour interview show co-hosted by David Spada and Elliott Harris generally features Hall of Fame caliber athletes, managers, coaches, broadcasters, etc. and attractive females.

The highly acclaimed program (well, it is in the Spada and Harris households, as well as reportedly elsewhere) has no fetching female on the Jan. 24 show. It does have two former Minnesota Vikings standouts, Paul Krause and Chris Doleman. You don’t have to be a Vikings fan to enjoy the two interviews.

As consolation to those who have come to expect a photo of the weekly lovely lady on the show, we instead will run one of a Vikings cheerleader. Hey, it’s the best we can — or will — do on short notice.

OK, so we won’t be seeing any bikini car washes in the CHicago area any time soon. That doesn’t mean we can’t dream about them. For those who do, some video reality for you:

And merely a bikini video with Marcela Santamaria:
