Is there anything more exciting than the day your team’s schedule is released for the upcoming season? Well, in a word: Yes. If you answered with a “no,” you might want to consider readjusting priorities in your life (assuming you have a life; if you don’t, then perhaps answering “no” might be an indication you might want to get one).

All that said (or written, for those who do not read out loud), the NBA released its 2012-13 schedule on Thursday (July 26).
For the Chicago Bulls, the season starts Oct. 31 at home against the Sacramento Kings. The regular season ends April 16 at hoe against the Washington Wizards. Whether there’s a postseason for the Bulls? Some optimistic types see the Bulls winning 50 games. In which case there’s no question the Bulls are in the playoffs. With Derrick Rose out for an undetermined duration and Luol Deng possibly having post-Olympic Games surgery that would sideline him for more than a few games, it’s unclear what the Bulls will have to be competitive minus two starters. That’s for someone else to worry about. In July, it’s a bit early to be overly concerned.

Christmas Day games will feature five contests: Boston at Brooklyn (the forme New Jersey Nets), New York at the Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City at Miami (the first rematch of the 2012 Finals teams), Houston at the Bulls (Chicago time) and Denver at the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Bulls have a New Year Eve’s game (that would be Dec. 31 for those of us who are calendarily — is that a word??? — challenged) at home against Charlotte that starts at 2 p.m. If the Bulls can’t celebrate that night in the aftermath of beating the Bobcats, it’s going to be a really lonnnnnnnnnnng season.
The Bulls also will be among four national TV games on Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with the Lakers visiting the United Center.
Preseason home games: Oct. 9 vs. Memphis, Oct.m 16 vs. Milwaukee, Oct. 19 vs. Minnesota and Oct. 23 vs. Oklahoma City. All of the preseason home games are 7 p.m.

For those of you who missed Thursday’s “Sports & Torts” show with co-hosts David Spada and Elliott Harris, it was a great program — thanks to the guests. Ruth Riley — of the WNBA Chicago Sky and a gold-medal winner at the 2004 Olympic Games — and former big-league pitcher Tommy John were on the show with Ruth being an in-studio guest. She also will be at an event — related to quadrennial games that are being held in London — Friday (July 27) at Rockit Bar. Speaking of the Lakers (well, we were a little while ago — and even if we weren’t the following video would run), adult actress Raylene was among the participants at the recent Exxxotica Chicago 2012 event at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. Raylene is a Lakers fan.
During her visit to Chicago, she was gracious enough to take some time to chat with your humble correspondent.
