Bulls’ Rose Giving It a Shot — During Pregame

January 12, 2013 @ No Comments

Weekend wondering: With Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose having participated in pregame shootaround Friday before the team’s 108-101 victory over the Knicks in New York, wondering whether he will do so before their game Saturday at home against Phoenix. Or anytime at the United Center.

Falcons cheerleader Sabrina. You were expecting Matt Ryan?

* Wondering whether the media are as tired of covering the Chicago Bears’ search for a coach to replace Lovie Smith as some of us are of reading and/or hearing about it. Let me know when someone is hired.

* Wondering when the Bears will bring back the Honey Bears, the cheerleading squad that last roamed Soldier Field in the 1985 season (the only time in franchise history that the Bears won the Super Bowl). Also wondering whether the previous sentence serves as justification for running cheerleader photos (not that justification actually is needed).

* Wondering whether Lance Armstrong will admit to doping during his Oprah Winfrey interview to be taped Monday and aired Thursday? USA Today reports he will. And this will make a difference how exactly? His supporters will continue to support him. The Livestrong people will point to all the money that has been raised. And they won’t concern themselves with the foundation for success being built on a lie and by someone who cheated (not that he was alone in cheating, but that hardly vidicates someone who presented himself as a heroic figure).

* Wondering how the reconciliation of Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and wife Vanessa occurred. Vanessa, who married Bryant in 2001, announced via Instagram (and he confirmed on Facebook) the couple have canceled plans to divorce. Also wondering how much money he saved by reconciling.

* Anyone wondering how much time is left until pitchers and catchers report to spring training? You can click here. Thanks to Bill McCormick of jaythejoke.com for the link. Yes, this site has featured it before and likely will feature it again. Some of us amuse easily. Indeed we do.

From esteemed Beachwood Reporter Quick Takes columnist Zay Smith, who noted the other day:

News Headline: “Alabama wins national championship, routing Notre Dame.”
All right. Not so fast.
Let’s take a closer look at the college football season.
Alabama earlier lost to Texas A&M.
Texas A&M lost to Florida.
Florida lost to Louisville.
Louisville lost to Connecticut.
Connecticut lost to Syracuse.
Syracuse lost to Northwestern.
Which means. . . .
Northwestern is the 2012 National Champion.
Spread the word.
Go Cats!
