Bulls, Super Bowl Bets, Bikinis and More

Random thoughts while wondering whether Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice no longer being a candidate for the Oakland Raiders’ coaching vacancy is something that should have Bears fans relieved or regretting:

* Comcast SportsNet Chicago devoted so much of the early part of its “SportsNet Central” show for Super Bowl-themed coverage that you’d think the Feb. 5 game going to be on NBC or something.

Maria Menounos in a bikini (just in case New England wins the Super Bowl and she wins her bet and doesn't have to wear a Giants bikini.).

* In the Chicago Bulls’ 110-95 victory Monday against the visiting New Jersey Nets, fan favorite Brian Scalabrine played in the first quarter for the second consecutive game. He also played in the second, third and fourth quarters. Meaning it was the first game this season in which he has played in the first and second halves. And he wasn’t half bad, going 2-of-3 from the field, 1-of-1 on free throws, plus four assists and three rebounds in a season-high 22:52 on the floor. He knows the meaning of meaningful minutes (he discusses in video below).

* The Chicago Luvabulls performed to “All That Jazz.” Maybe for the benefit of one of several former Utah players in the game — specifically Nets guard Deron Williams? He scored on a jumper immediately after the timeout featuring the lovely ladies.

* Speaking of timeouts, one fan hit all five shots in the “Bulls Buckets” contest during a timeout; another fan hit two shots in United Airlines’ “Shoot to Fly” contest to win tickets for an international flight during the break between quarters. Performances almost as impressive as Richard “Rip Hamilton, who was 10-of-16 from the field in posting his 15,000th career NBA point with his first basket.

* Speaking of Bulls fans, it was a bit strange to hear them boo Nets forward Kris Humphries during introductions and even after he made a dunk. Perhaps there were a lot of Kim Kardashian fans in the crowd.

* Speaking of reality television personalities (and remember this reality: there is little “reality” in such TV programs), Bears quarterback Jay Cutler tweeted Monday in response to the news that he and reality TV’s Kristin Cavallari are expecting their first child: “Thanks for all the tweets. We couldn’t be more excited. We don’t usually comment on our relationship but for the record I never broke up with Kristin. Its unfortunate some people are saying hurtful things during such a joyous moment in our life.”

* Also active on Twitter, Kristin tweeted: “I tweeted that I had margaritas a few weeks ago to throw ppl off cuz I had gotten a couple tweets about my pregnancy. I didn’t really drink!”

* Extra incentive to root for the New York Giants to defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI? Television personality Maria Menounos appears to have made a bet on her “Extra” show to show up in a Giants bikini in Times Square if her beloved Pats lose.

* Speaking of TV, among the topics on CBS’s generally female-focused “The Talk” Monday: NFL postseason, Joe Paterno and Steven Tyler’s national anthem performance Sunday. Guess such topics have broad appeal. Watch out, ESPN.

* The State of Pennsylvania is lowering flags for Paterno. Well, it already lowered standards in investigating child sexual-abuse charges against Jerry Sandusky.

Speaking of bikinis (well, we were a little while ago regarding Maria Menounos, remember?), here is another installment of the Hooters Dream Girl 2012 candidates. Today’s beauty is Ashlee Tuttle:

And now for some video with April Rose and her “Maximum Exposure” series (no, that is not April in the tie and little else):
