A Chicago football team did participate in a highly entertaining game on national television. It simply didn’t result in a Chicago victory. And it simply didn’t involve the Bears. The Detroit Lions defeated the Bears on Monday Night Football 24-13. Not particularly entertaining — from a Chicago perspective.
Decidely different was Friday’s matchup between Chicago and Green Bay — in the Lingerie Football League contest shown on MTV2. The Bliss rallied from a two-touchdown, second-half deficit but fell short 36-34 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill.
The Bliss was down 28-14 before its comeback. Down 28-20, Bliss defender Yashi Rice forced a fumble, recovered it and had her uniform bottom momentarily pulled down as she tried to return for a touchdown. Yashi was stopped short — of a touchdown and having her uniform bottom removed. A subsequent TD and two-point conversion tied the game at 28. But a Green Bay TD pass and two-point conversion put the Chill up 36-28 with 1:19 left in the game. Bliss quarterback Heather Furr scored on a keeper with 1:09 to go, but a two-point pass was dropped in the end zone.
The loss left the Bliss record at 0-2 and looking toward next season rather than toward the playoffs, a destination the team had reached in its first two years.
Can’t win ‘em all. On the bright side (well, for at least one of us), there is some video from the Bliss game that the still-evolving video department at elliottharris.com took. Pardon any lack of professional quality.
OK, cue the videos (and if things go according to plan, there will be more another day):
