Is there anything more exciting than the NFL Combine? Quite frankly, yes.
Some football fans (OK, the more die-hard and/or without much else going on in their lives) might disagree. The gathering of football flesh is yet another wonderful way the NFL keeps itself in the news. And keeps NFL media (actually not really employed by the league but sometimes you cannot tell) busy and telling themselves how important they are — not only to their employer but to the grander world at large. The combine does fill up time on NFL Network, for what that’s worth. And it does allow hometown media outlets to interview coaches and general managers of their respective teams at the event. Because the media couldn’t do that in Chicago or New York or wherever? Yeah, that makes sense. Not. Well, if nothing else, the combine does give the city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana an economic boost so there are more tax dollars not to waste on such frivolous items as education, social programs, etc.
Anyway, the Chicago Bears’ latest utterances regarding quarterback Jay Cutler and receiver Brandon Marshall and whether those two will be back for 2015 do nothing to clarify the situation. Mainly because the Bears don’t have to say anything right now and don’t want to diminish Cutler’s trade value.
So if the NFL Combine is not the world’s most exciting sports event, why write anything about it? Well, the fine folks at Bovada, (www.Bovada.lv, Twitter: @BovadaLV) have provided some material that serves to fill up space and allow for photos to be run alongside. And who can argue with that, especially when such photos are those of lovely ladies in swimsuits during a seemingly snow-filled, endless winter. The debate team at ElliottHarris.com rests its case. Thank you.
And, last but not least, the creative types (and by that we actually mean “trained monkeys”) running this site do not need any rationalization for running photos and/or videos around here. All we have to do is locate such visual enhancements. Thank you again, and have a wonderful weekend — with or without the NFL Combine and/or swimsuits.
