Midweek musings: Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler returned to action on Tuesday (Nov. 20). Meaning he was on his own radio show on ESPN 1000. He expressed a degree of uncertainty about playing Suday against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field. It’s unclear whether that uncertainty stems from the concussed QB not being able to figure out which day of the week Sunday is.

* Race-car driver Danica Patrick announced on her Facebook page she and husband Paul Hospenthal are divorcing. “I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided [to] amicably end our marriage,” she said. “This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that’s how we will remain moving forward.” She’s 30. He’s 47. Patrick has been seen recently in Chicago working out at the fashionable East Bank Club — for those who are interested in such things (and even for those who are not).
* Rutgers becomes the latest university to join the Big Ten Conference. About all that’s missing is a Los Angeles-based presence to complete a coast-to-coast league that the Big Ten Network could sell advertisers. Add UCLA and/or Southern Cal to the conference, and the Big Ten’s expansion should be just about a complete feat.
* A Grinnell College basketball player named Jack Taylor scores a record 138 points in a 179-104 victory vs. Faith Baptist Bible. Taylor was 52-for-108 (27-for-71 from three-point range). In case you were wondering how. Some of us still are wondering why.
* The Chicago Cubs designate first baseman-outfielder Bryan LaHair for assignment. He likely is headed to play in Japan. Which makes more sense than having the 30-year-old career minor leaguer a member of the 2012 National League All-Star team did.

Always room for lovely Lariyah Daniels. The multi-talented singer/model/bikini competitor and more took home a trophy from her bikini effort Saturday (Nov. 17). She also was the model search winner for Guitar World’s Buyer’s Guide. At least I think that’s what it is. Some of us distract easily.
