Wandering around Twitter is one way to pass the time. Which apparently is easier than passing a football. Certainly in the case of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. Not that Cutler lacks the skills for passing a football. Time to do so is another matter. As are receivers to catch the ball.
And if you didn’t think so after the Bears’ season-opening victory, then you just might be disbelieving after losses to the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. Of course, lack of a running game certainly doesn’t help. Nor does a commitment to a running game. But it’s the chicken-or-the-egg question when it comes to the Bears’ grounded ground game.
If the Bears could run better, they would run more often. Then again, if they ran more, they just might run better.
All of which doesn’t mean much until next Sunday when the Carolina Panthers visit Soldier Field and the Bears will have an opportunity to take on first-year coach (and former Bears linebacker) Ron Rivera’s team.
So where does Twitter fit in with all this?
Glad you asked.
On a sunny afternoon in a leafy suburb, your humble correspondent came across this tweet from Cutler to former fiancee Kristin Cavallari. She is one of the contestants on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” that airs Monday nights. Judging by last week’s initial effort, she has fairly nimble feet and may last a few weeks on the show.
Tweeted Cutler to his legion of followers at @JayCutler6: You are going to be great. Good luck babe “@KristinCav: To vote tonight #800-868-3403 or text “VOTE” to 3403″ Vote for KC tonight.
Chances are she will fare better than he did Sunday. Unless her teammate suffers from a bad case of the drops the way Cutler’s did.
Wonder if Cutler will call an audible regarding watching DWTS or former Bears QB Rex Grossman on “Monday Night Football.”
