Any cupcakes on the Chicago Bears’ schedule? They’ve already played Atlanta, New Orleans and Green Bay, so things could be worse than the 1-2 record. As for cupcakes that are considerably easier to digest?
Linebacker Lance Briggs should be able to see some coming. The food — not football — variety. He is scheduled to be at Sprinkles, 50 E. Walton St. in Chicago, on Oct. 1 from 2-4 p.m. He will pose for photos with customers. Sprinkles is donating all of its proceeds from the sale of its red velvet cupcakes to Briggs4Kidz. The benefit runs Oct. 1-9.
As for cupcakes of the football variety, well, the Carolina Panthers are next up for the Bears on Oct. 2 at Soldier Field. That’s about as close as they come to cupcakes in the NFL.
Meanwhile, among the highlights from Sunday’s NFL Week 3 games:
New England quarterback Tom Brady passed for 387 yards at Buffalo. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees held the previous mark of 1,257 yards in 2006.
* Speaking of Brees, he passed for 370 yards and three touchdowns in the Saints’ 40-33 victoryouston.
