Hawks’ 58 Not So Great in Loss to Bulls

January 15, 2013 @ No Comments

Random thoughts (or what passes for thinking around here) while waiting for Oprah Winfrey to announce during her Thursday televised interview of Lance Armstrong — which was taped Monday (Jan. 14) — that she will be competing this summer in the Tour de France:

Former Loop Rock Girl Lindsey is always welcome around here.

* The Chicago Bulls’ 97-58 victory over the visiting Atlanta Hawks featured a five-point second quarter by the losers. The Hawks had 20 points in the first half — the same total that the Atlanta Falcons scored in the first half of their NFL playoff victory Sunday against Seattle. Well, the Hawks did have more field goals than the Falcons.

* A man convicted of crimes linked to Detroit’s organized-crime family says he knows where Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa’s body was buried in 1975. OK, if the FBI can find Hoffa’s body, maybe the next item on its agenda should be to try to find the Chicago Cubs’ World Series hopes.

* The Chicago Blackhawks will play 10 of their first 12 games in the lockout-shortened 2013 season on the road. For all those who think that is so unfair and are outraged by such a schedule, consider this: The Blackhawks play 10 of their next 12 at home.

* Speaking of the Hawks (which we probably will do on an occasional basis), their return to action means the Blackhawks Ice Crew is back. The Ice Crew is available for community events during the season. To book the lovely ladies (and if it snows substantially this winter, I might want to contact them for driveway shoveling duties), you can contact Wynne Lacey at (630) 881-3052 or email wynne@wynningteams.com. Anyone who thinks mentioning the Ice Crew is merely a ploy to be able to run a photo of the squad is wrong. As has been explained around here, the great thing about running the site is being able to do pretty much whatever I want. Meaning there could have been an Ice Crew photo running today even without a mention of the fetching females.

No contest: The choice of photos was either Joel Quenneville or the 2013 Ice Crew.

* Still speaking of the Hawks, coach Joel Quenneville will be the subject of Comcast SportsNet’s “Inside Look” on Wednesday at 9 p.m. Additional content will be available on CSNChicago.com. The program will be re-run on Jan 17 at 9:30 p.m., Jan. 21 at 9 p.m., Jan. 23 at 12:30 p.m., Jan. 27 at 4 p.m., Jan. 29 at 11:30 p.m. and Jan. 31 at 11 p.m. On becoming a coach, Quenneville said: “I look at all of my former teammates, and they’d say, ‘The least likely guy to be a coach!’ I was probably a character back in the day. There were several guys when we were in Hartford that turned out they’re coaching in today’s game and are in the NHL today.”

There’s always room for some video of Denise Milani. Thankfully, she has managed to overcome any camera-shyness:
