Imagine. John Lennon’s “Imagine” and the image of the late member of the Beatles were part of the Olympic Games closing ceremonies Sunday (Aug. 12) in London. Somebody involved had an active imagination — because Lennon involvement would seem antithetical to what the free-spirited soul believed in. But, hey, better to have his presence — misplaced or otherwise — than not.

Imagine there’s no countries? What would the Olympics be? A gathering of great athletes without any global implications — real or imagined.
Don’t look for that to happen any time soon. How would people keep score if they didn’t know what countries to root for or against? To some, that is the essence of the Games. Rather than enjoy pure athletic competition — OK, maybe not so pure, but you get the idea — people root for various uniforms. Similar to fans who root for a team because of geography and possibly tradition more than any other reason.
Maybe John Lennon would have been impressed with Great Britain finishing third in the medals race behind the United States and China. Highly unlikely, it would seem based on his tune, but you can imagine if you like.
And a little Queen from Britain’s Olympic team. Not to be confused with Queen Elizabeth II. As if there would be any confusion:

In the never-ending quest for videos to provide for this site, your humble correspondent once again journeyed to the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., on Sunday for Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2012. The trip definitely was worth it, as videos yet to come should demonstrate. Among those interviewed were actresses Lauren Holly, Scottie Thompson and Sean Young (in alphabetical order). Also kind enough to take time to chat were the Garcia Twins — formerly known as WWE’s Bella Twins. Brianna and Nicole are staying busy with several projects, including one on NFL Network, so you can expect to see them in the not-too-distant future.
Today we feature a glimpse of comic-book industry icon Stan Lee on the way to signing autographs, a look at some of the sights and sounds from the event and more footage of former wrestler Maryse. You may recall she was featured in the Aug. 11 edition, but the video was a bit too close for some. So we have footage that shows her being interviewed by someone else. You might not be able to hear anything, but that’s the tradeoff.
Guessing Showbiz Shelly no longer is interested in U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte.
And before we say goodbye to the Olympics, we couldn’t do so without some sort of “Call Me Maybe” Games-themed tune.
In an effort to deliver a fitting farewell to the London Games, the video-research department at elliottharris.com scoured thousands and thousands of offerings (OK, maybe hundreds and hundreds; would you believe dozens and dozens maybe?) to come up with something suitable.
Something says the video research may have gotten a bit away from its goal when someone accidentally typed in “swimsuits Rio” instead of words that might have led more directly to finding what was supposed to be the target of the search.
Mission accomplished.
