Injuries Have Bulls More Than a Little Hamstrung

March 11, 2013 @ No Comments

Monday meanderings: Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose told ABC sideline reporter Doris Burke his return to playing is being hindered by his hamstrings that bother him. Rose was not on the bench for the Bulls’ nationally televised 90-81 loss to the Lakers Sunday (March 10) in Los Angeles. His is only one injury that pains the Bulls. Something says for Rose’s return to be significant this season Miami Heat superstar LeBron James will have to play the postseason entirely left-handed — and blindfolded — for the Bulls to have a chance to come close to an NBA Finals berth.

Lisa Marie Varon (aka “Tara”) is to be part of the TNA Impact Wrestling show March 14 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

* If there was a prize for redundancy, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau just might win in a landslide for the questions he answers with regularity regarding Rose’s return — whenever it is. “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” he said before the game. “For us right now the guys that are playing have to concentrate on their improvement and our next opponent. Derrick has to concentrate on his rehab. And until that changes, that’s the way it has to be; and that’s the way we’re approaching it.”

* The Chicago Blackhawks, who posted a point in 24 consecutive games to start the lockout-shortened NHL season (21-0-3) have lost two in a row after Edmonton edged them 6-5 Sunday (March 10) at the United Center. Meaning the Hawks are 1/12th of the way to a winless second half of the season. OK, maybe they’ll win a few of their 22 remaining games. And given the sensational start the Hawks had, their fans can afford to remain optimistic (although Hawks fans who also are White Sox fans might start becoming concerned if the losing streak hits three).

* Anyone who sees mentioning the Hawks in the previous paragraph as merely a means to justify running a picture of the team’s Ice Crew needs to remember the editorial staff at elliottharris.com has the discretion to run just about anything it chooses without having to justify anything. And if we really wanted to show you how much power that is, we would not run a photo of the Ice Crew for that very reason. Instead, we will run a photo of the Ice Crew to show that great thought goes into what appears in this space — or maybe merely we will do so because we want to run a photo of the Ice Crew.

* As has been noted around here, TNA Impact Wrestling is taking its Thursday night show on the road with the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., being the first stop March 14. That’s also the date that wrestler Tara’s restaurant — The Squared Circle, 2418 N. Ashland, Chicago — opens. Unless somehow Tara (Lisa Marie Varon) clones herself between now and then, she will be at the wrestling and not at the restaurant on March 14. The doors to the Sears Centre open at 6 p.m. with the wrestling card — which can be seen on Spike TV — to begin at 7. For those who cannot get enough of Tara (and that group would include yours truly), we do have some video of Lisa Marie at her restaurant. For those who would like even more of this lovely lady, she will be on the March 14 “Sports & Torts” on talkzone.com at noon Chicago time.
