Jaime Edmondson’s Week 11 picks & pics (updated update)

November 20, 2011 @ No Comments

If it’s Sunday (which at last check it was), it’s time for Jaime Edmondson’s NFL picks. And pics. The Playboy Playmate posts her selections at her Twitter account at @jaimeedmondson. Her choices are reprinted here is a public service. Or what some of us like to think of as a public service.

A semeingly unbeatable pair: Jaime Edmonson -- and the Green Bay Packers.

You also can follow Jaime on her Facebook page at Jaime Edmondson.

Her early-game picks: Detroit over Carolina, Dallas over Washington, Cleveland over Jacksonville, Baltimore over Cincinnati, Green Bay over Tampa Pay, Oakland over Minnesota and Miami over Buffalo (if Jaime ever goes against the Dolphins, you will know it is the end of the world — or an imposter).

Her late-afternoon selections: San Francisco over Arizona, Seattle over St. Louis, Atlanta over Tennessee and Chicago over San Diego.

Which means Jaime went 11-0 heading into the night game. Talk about the picture — and pictures — of perfection. Her pick for that contest: New York Giants over Philadelphia.

Jaime also writes a Play-By-Playmate column at playboy.com, where you can read her latest effort (NFL-related, about her Miami Dolphins for whom she once was a cheerleader).

And, for the football fan in search of figures other than Jaime’s (yes, such people actually do exist), the editorial staff at elliottharris.com is pleased to present some numbers from the NFL’s department of information, which definitely tries to put a positive perspective on all things NFL. Such as teams with losing records still having postseason possibilities, etc.:

Since the current playoff format was instituted in 1990, 15 clubs with a losing record after nine games have made the playoffs (final regular-season record in parentheses):

1990 Houston Oilers: 4-5 (9-7)
1990 New Orleans: 4-5 (8-8)
1992 San Diego: 4-5 (11-5)
1994 Detroit: 4-5 (9-7)
1994 New England: 3-6 (10-6)
1995 Detroit: 3-6 (10-6)
1995 San Diego: 4-5 (9-7)
1996 Jacksonville: 3-6 (9-7)
1997 Detroit: 4-5 (9-7)
2001 Tampa Bay: 4-5 (9-7)
2002 Cleveland: 4-5 (9-7)
2002 New York Jets: 4-5 (9-7)
2003 Green Bay: 4-5 (10-6)
2008 San Diego: 4-5 (8-8)
2009 New York Jets: 4-5 (9-7)

With 295 yards against Kansas City on Monday Night Football, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady would set the record for most passing yards through a team’s first 10 games of a season. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees just surpassed his own mark from 2008 (3,251), passing for 3,326 yards through 10 games.

The most passing yards through a team’s first 10 games in NFL history:

Drew Brees, 2011 New Orleans: 3,326
Drew Brees, 2008 New Orleans: 3,251
Rich Gannon, 2002 Oakland: 3,195
Philip Rivers, 2010 San Diego: 3,177
Peyton Manning, 2009 Indianapolis: 3,171
Tom Brady, 2011 New England: 3,032*

Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 2,869 yards and leads the league with 28 touchdown passes and a 130.7 passer rating. He is the first quarterback in NFL history with at least 2,800 yards and 28 touchdowns in the first nine games of season.

The Packers QB has had passer rating of at least 100 in nine consecutive games and is tied with Peyton Manning (2004) for the longest such streak in a single season in NFL history.

Rodgers also has a passer rating of at least 140 in three consecutive games, tying Roger Staubach (1971) and Kurt Warner (1999) for the longest single-season streak for such games (minimum 10 attempts).

With a touchdown Sunday night, Philadelphia’s LeSean McCoy would become only the second player since 1970 to score a touchdown in each of his team’s first 10 games. The other: Buffalo’s O.J. Simpson (1975).

New England tight end Rob Gronkowski has recorded eight touchdown receptions this season and 18 for his career. With two TD receptions Monday night, he would reach 20 touchdowns in the fewest games (26) among tight ends in NFL history. Mike Ditka has the mark (31 games).

OK, and now for the photographs. Thank you for your indulgence. And thank you to Jaime for the pictures:
