When you’re hot, you’re hot. And there is no question that Jaime Edmondson fits that description. The Playboy Playmate (January 2010) enters Sunday’s games of the NFL’s Week 14 with a 1-0 record. That’s what properly picking the Thursday night game will do for a body. And that’s what Jaime did by correctly calling a Pittsburgh Steelers victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Some of us still can’t figure out how she has time for all this. Jaime writes her weekly sports “Play By Playmate” column at playboy.com. She seems to tweet with great regularity on Twitter at @jaimeedmondson. And then she has her jet-setting about for modeling, promotional and other activities. Whew! I’m worn out merely typing part of her schedule.
There is no question Jaime is a devoted sports fan. Her pigskin picks for the early games: New York Jets over Kansas City, Detroit over Minnesota, New Orleans over Tennessee, New England over Washington, Carolina over Atlanta, Baltimore over Indianapolis, Tampa Bay over Jacksonville, Houston over Cincinnati and Miami (always the Dolphins because she used to be a cheerleader for them) over Philadelphia.
For the late-afternoon games, Jaime sees San Francisco over Arizona, Denver over Chicago [let the record show Jaime tweeted: Now those of you who pick on me every week for never picking Tebow can stop whining;)], San Diego over Buffalo and Green Bay over Oakland. Her Sunday night selection: Dallas over the New York Giants.
For those who are so inclined, Jaime’s NFL-themed photos are available at her web site at jaimeedmondson.net. Other items also are available for those who are more enamored of Jaime than they are of the NFL.
For those who prefer something more hardcore (in terms of football; sorry for those who might have been hoping for something else), here are some bits from the NFL’s department of information:
By beating the Washington Redskins, the New England Patriots (9-3) will reach 10 regular-season wins for the ninth consecutive season and would join the 1983-98 San Francisco 49ers (16) and the 2002-10 Indianapolis Colts (nine) as the only teams to accomplish the feat in NFL history.
With a victory against the Chicago Bears, the Denver Broncos (7-5) can become the third team to win six games in a row after starting the season 2-5 or worse. The others:
* 1970 Cincinnati Bengals (1-6 start): 8-6 record
* 2005 Minnesota Vikings (2-5): 9-7
With two touchdown passes against Oakland, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers will tie Peyton Manning for most consecutive games (13) with at least two touchdown passes to start a season.
MOST CONSECUTIVE GAMES WITH 2+ TD PASSES TO START SEASON
Peyton Manning, 2004 Indianapolis Colts: 13
Aaron Rodgers, 2011 Green Bay Packers: 12*
Johnny Unitas, 1959 Baltimore Colts: 12
* Active
Carolina quarterback Cam Newton has passed for 3,297 yards as a rookie. With 219 against Atlanta, he can surpass Falcons QB Matt Ryan (3,440 in 2008) and Sam Bradford (3,512 in 2010) for second-most by a rookie. Peyton Manning holds the record with 3,739 in 1998.
Last week, Newton rushed for his 13th touchdown to pass Steve Grogan (12 in 1976) for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a season.
For those who have greater appreciation for figures of another variety, here is the visual version of Jaime’s Week 14 picks.
