She may appear to have football on her mind, but the odds say Jaime Edmondson will be focusing on baseball Sunday (Sept. 30), too. Well, when she isn’t posting her selections on NFL games. Yes, multi-tasking seems to be much easier for the Playboy Playmate than it is for some of us mere mortals.
After all, Jaime was in Chicago to watch boyfriend/Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria play in a series against the White Sox that is crucial to both teams’ postseason aspirations. Going into Sunday’s games, each team has four games left to play. The White Sox are two games behind Detroit for the American League Central division title, while the Rays are three games back in the AL wild-card hunt.
She did jet-set elsewhere Sunday.
Even though the Rays have gone 9-1 in their last 10 and the Sox 2-8, the Sox have a better chance at postseason play. Only the Tigers are in the Sox’ way, while the Rays have the Athletics and Angels ahead of them for the second wild-card spot.
Speaking of close, the 2012 NFL season has seen 28 games decided by eight points or less through three weeks. That ties the 1998 season in that category. For whatever that’s worth (the guess here is that it’s worth a lot of anguish to bettors and/or fans cheering on their teams).
Random notes from the NFL public relations department: New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees can tie NFL legend John Unitas for the NFL record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass (48) if he has one against Green Bay. New England’s Tom Brady can tie retired Brett Favre (36) with a TD toss at Buffalo.
Jaime’s Week 4 NFL picks and pics — brought to you as a public service:
Atlanta over Carolina, New England over Buffalo, Houston over Tennessee, San Francisco over New York Jets, Seattle over St. Louis, San Diego over Kansas City and Minnesota over Detroit.
Of course, you always can go to Jaime’s Twitter account to see her picks. She is at @jaimeedmondson.
What about the rest of the day’s games? Good question.
Not a particularly good answer to it, but we do the best that we can:
Because of a previous social commitment, updates for this site were later than usual. Which is to say: not until well after the late afternoon games have begun. Or even the night contest.
Here the picks are: Broncos over Raiders, Bengals over Jaguars, Dolphins (Jaime will always pick them because she used to be a cheerleader for the team) over Cardinals, Buccaneers over Redskins, Packers over Saints and in the night game Giants over Eagles.
Sp now the picks/pics have been posted; it merely was a question of when. A reminder: Patience is a virtue. It’s unclear how virtuous anyone around here might be, but this could be a good test of all that to find out.
