For those who were unable to attend the Chicago Bulls-Indiana Pacers exhibition (or, as the NBA likes to call them “preseason”) game Tuesday night at the United Center, the evening featured a rare highlight. OK, not so much the game as one of the timeouts. That’s when the Chicago Luvabulls performed their annual holiday dance.
Granted the Luvabulls do delight the crowd with their Christmas show on an annual basis, but still it’s a once-a-year effort. And if you seledom — if ever — make it to a Bulls game on the night when they perform in holiday attire, it very well could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
With the truncated season the NBA has after its lockout, there was some question when exactly the Luvabulls would perform their holiday treat. Or even if they would. After all, the Bulls’ first regular-season home game is not until Jan. 1.
Not being an expert on holidays, yours truly did realize there weren’t many opportunities for the Luvabulls’ holiday show. In fact, there was only the Dec. 20 game. And the Luvabulls came through, as if they were in midseason form..
The only regret was not being able make it down from the press box in time to wander the bowels of the United Center for a photo with the ladies in the red-and-white costumes. Fortunately, there is one from last season with Ashley Bond and Pam Marsh that will suffice.
OK, so the photo above is not the Luvabulls in festive attire. Well, not the Christmas variety. The elliottharris.com department of planning still is under construction. Which explains why there is no group photo of the lovely ladies in their holiday apparel. Nonetheless, here’s hoping the photo above has some appeal. And the video below will show their 2011 effort:
