From the NFL’s department of information and no-team-is-out-of-postseason-contention-until-it-is-mathematically-eliminated comes this tidbit: By the end of Week 2, at least 20 clubs will be 1-1 or 0-2. Since 2002, 70 of the 120 playoff teams (58.3 percent) began the year either 1-1 or 0-2, including the Super Bowl XLVI champion New York Giants in 2011.

Meaning heading into Week 3, no team — and more importantly, no team’s fan base — needs to stop dreaming about postseason possibilities (although there are a few that might, just to get a head start on things).

Other enlightening facts:

* New England and Pittsburgh have their home openers. The Patriots are 67-13 (.838) at Gillette Stadium since it opened in 2002, the best winning percentage of any team at a stadium since 1970 (minimum 25 games). The Patriots have won 15 of their last 17 home openers and are 10-0 in openers at Gillette. Pittsburgh is 65-22-1 (.744) at Heinz Field since its 2001 opening and have won nine consecutive home openers. The teams with the highest winning percentage at a stadium since 1970 (minimum 25 games):
1. New England Patriots, Gillette Stadium: 67-13-0 (.838)
2. Miami Dolphins, Orange Bowl: 101-22-1 (.819)
3. Pittsburgh Steelers, Heinz Field*: 65-22-1 (.744)

5. L.A. Rams, Memorial Coliseum: 53-20-2 (.726)
(The Patriots and Steelers are the only teams on the list that play in the stadiums where they compiled their numbers)

* Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 355 yards in the Lions’ 27-23 Week 1 victory against St. Louis. He became the second player in NFL history to pass for at least 350 yards in four consecutive games (Drew Brees accomplished the feat last season for the New Orleans Saints). Stafford needs 315 passing yards to tie Brees’ total of 1,954 for five consecutive games.

* San Francisco receiver Randy Moss need 30 receiving yards Sunday night against Detroit to move past Tim Brown for fourth place all-time. The leaders: Jerry Rice, 22,895; Terrell Owens, 15,934; Isaac Bruce, 15,208; Tim Brown, 14,934; Randy Moss, 14,905.

* Washington’s Robert Griffin III can become the fifth quarterback since 1970 to win their first two starts to begin a season. The QBs (year, team and overall record in parentheses): John Elway (1983 Denver Broncos: 4-6), Ryan Leaf (1008 San Diego Chargers: 3-6); Joe Flacco (2008 Baltimore Ravens: 11-5); Mark Sanchez (2009 New York Jets: 8-7).

* Dallas’ Jason Witten needs two receptions to become the third tight end in NFL history with 700 catches. San Diego’s Antonio Gates needs three catches to become the fifth tight end in NFL history with 600. Tight ends with the most catches:
1. Tony Gonzalez (still active): 1,154
2. Shannon Sharpe: 815
3. Jason Witten (still active): 698
4. Ozzie Newsome: 662
5. Antonio Gates (still active): 597

* With a victory against Arizona, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick can move into sole possession of eighth place for most career victories. The coaches with the most NFL victories (including postseason):

5. Chuck Noll: 209
