No Bull(s): Evening Ends on Winning Note

December 5, 2012 @ No Comments

Great performances Tuesday night (Dec. 4) before an enthusiastic Chicago crowd. Thrilling finish. Folks went home happy. If you’re saying to yourself — or anyone else — you thought the Bulls lost to the Indiana Pacers 80-76, you are correct. Which might be an indication that your humble correspondent was not at the United Center to witness the Bulls game.

It’s not every day that yours truly fails to make it to a Bulls home game 00 in part because the Bulls don’t have home games every day. There was a good reason to bypass the NBA game. Actually, a couple of good reasons:

Jamar Rogers and Jennifer Hudson — in that order of appearance at the House of Blues. Both singers were there to perform as part of a Michigan Avenue Magazine event. Jennifer is the cover girl for the December issue of the magazine; Jamar, who gained fame on “The Voice,” was the opening act.

As for the basketball game? Well, the Bulls could have won. And they could have lost by more. If that’s not a summary that defines an overwhelming number of NBA games, nothing does.

Anyway, let’s go to some video:

OK, so attending the Michigan Avenue Magazine/Jennifer Hudson event meant not being at the Bulls game. Which means no videos of the Luvabulls dance team strutting its stuff. Oh, the humanity!

Well, there is something of a consolation prize. The new Luvabulls videos on the team’s web site are becoming available. At last look two of the co-captains — Carissa and Erika — are the first featured at www.bulls.com. This site will try to keep up with each and every Luvabulls dancer video as they are activated. For now you can see Carissa by clicking here and you can see Erika by clicking here.

Yes, the editorial staff at elliottharris.com likes to think of this as one of the more compelling entries that will be part of the portfolio for Pulitzer Prize for Public Service (or its cyberspace equivalent). No need for thanks. It’s all in a day’s — or night’s — work.

Of course, being out and about meant your humble correspondent was not situated near a television set to provide critical assessment of the latest installment of the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Thankfully, the fine folks at CBS — the network that aired the program — did provide some video for public perusal. If things go according to plan (and occasionally, they actually do around here), there will be more in tomorrow’s edition.

With today being Wednesday (based on yesterday being Tuesday and tomorrow scheduled to be Thursday — assuming you are reading this today or a subsequent Wednesday), that means the time is fast approaching for Thursday’s weekly interview show “Sports & Torts” co-hosted by David Spada and Elliott Harris at noon Chicago time on talkzone.com.

The guests on the Dec. 6 program are Bob Rosenberg, official scorer for the Chicago Bulls and White Sox (among other teams), and Payal Patel, executive director of media and public relations for the Chicago Force FC, the new Major Indoor Soccer League team that has its home debut Friday (Dec. 7) at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

OK, the choice is writing about Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher and a possible season-ending hamstring injury or running something about bikini yoga. Thought so, so here you go:
