If it’s Sunday (which if yesterday was Saturday and tomorrow is Monday, that seems a logical conclusion to reach), then it is time for more of Playboy Playmate Jaime Edmondson’s NFL picks and pics. Of course, you can follow Jaime on Twitters and find her photos there, too. They will be at @jaimeedmondson. Well, usually they would be.
Jaime’s Week 5 picks for Sunday? Well, there are none.
She tweeted: No #picksinpics today…I’m on vacay woo hoo!!! Let’s go Fifty Shades of Ginger, kick some fantasy ass!
Well, that simplifies things for some of us (especially the one whose job is to compile the photos for this site), but also no doubt disappoints most of us who have come to appreciate Jaime’s pigskin prognostication (well, and also her photos).
Speaking of impressive figures (of another variety), if New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees throws a touchdown pass in Sunday night’s game against San Diego, he will surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas for most consecutive games with a TD pass. Both have done it for 47 contests. New England’s Tom Brady has the second-longest active streak of TD tosses in consecutive games with 36. With a TD pass Sunday against Denver, he will surpass Brett Favre for third place on the all-time list.
Meanwhile, back at Jaime’s football forecast, which does not exist …
The editorial staff at elliottharris.com has opted to make some selections — purely for entertainment purposes. So here goes nothing (accompanied, of course, by photos of Jaime):
First and foremost — and keeping with Jaime’s tradition of picking Miami because she is a former Dolphins cheerleader — Miami over Cincinnati, Green Bay over Indianapolis, Baltimore over Kansas City, New York Giants over Cleveland, Pittsburgh over Philadelphia, Atlanta over Washington. Those are the early games.
In that Jaime isn’t picking these, we don’t have to wait for her late-afternoon and/or night game selections. So here goes more nothing (and if somehow these picks come close to being .500, rest assured that it is solely by accident: Carolina over Seattle, Chicago over Jacksonville, Minnesota over Tennessee, New England over Denver, San Francisco over Buffalo, New Orleans over San Diego.
We shall save the Monday night contest — Houston at New York Jets — until Monday. Maybe Jaime will be back with her selections. If not, you’re on your own.
One more football footnote, thanks to the NFL’s department of information. Actually, it’s more handiwork than footnote, but you get the idea:
With eight catches against Miami, Cincinnati’s A.J. Green will become the eighth player – and fourth wide receiver – in NFL history to reach 100 career receptions in 20 or fewer games. He has 92 catches in 19 games. The fewest games to reach 100 receptions in NFL history:
16 games: WR Anquan Boldin, Arizona.
19: RB Reggie Bush, New Orleans.
20: WR Terry Glenn, New England; WR Eddie Royal, Denver; TE Keith Jackson, Philadelphia; TE Jeremy Shockey, New York Giants; TE Kellen Winslow, Cleveland.
Thank you for playing along — or whatever it is that you might have been doing. As previously stated, the selections are purely for entertainment purposes. If there is an upside to Jaime not having selections this week, it might be that that void frees up the rest of the afternoon rather than wait around for her later choices. So maybe some — OK, one — of us will wander off to a friendly watering hole to take in the Bears game on television.
