Pippen Becoming a Role Player (as an Actor)

December 13, 2012 @ No Comments

Thursday thoughts (or what passes for such with the editorial staff at elliottharris.com): Former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen will have a chance to work on his acting skills when he makes his Goodman Theatre debut on Friday (Dec. 14) in “A Christmas Carol.” There are those around Chicago who might suggest “No Tippin’ Pippen” would be perfect for the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Erika is one of the co-captains of the Chicago Luvabulls this season.

* Speaking of Pippen the actor, he is said to have a television show “Big Pippen” in development with WE TV. The program would be a docuseries featuring him and wife Larsa, who has been on “The Housewives of Miami.” The show also would feature his family and hers.

* Speaking of Scottie and Larsa, the Bulls will honor them at the team’s charity event Jan. 8, 2013, at the United Center. The evening will have a cocktail reception and dinner for an intimate gathering of 800 on the United Center floor. Auctions — live and silent — also will be part of the festivities that will include various entertainment acts. Tickets are $400. All attending the event will receive a Pippen-autographed piece of memorabilia. Information on the event is available by clicking here.

* The Bulls are holding a non-perishable food drive before their game Saturday (Dec. 15) at the United Center from 5:30-7 p.m. Donations will go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Fans also may donate money by going to bulls.com/fooddrive.

* Most incredible about the Bulls 96-89 victory Wednesday at Philadelphia (other than it was accomplished on little sleep after a late-night game Tuesday in Chicago) is that the entire bench contribution — Taj Gibson (25 minutes), Jimmy Butler (29) and Marquis Teague (20)– included one turnover combined.

* Speaking of incredible (although not nearly as glowingly), an Indiana high school girls’ basketball team beat another 107-2. The winning coach must be so proud of such an accomplishment. Well, other than for the two free throws allowed.

* It’s always interesting to see people ask others on Twitter for a retweet (if you are not Twitter-savvy, you will know what this all means; if not, you might want to skip to the next item). For instance, folks reach out to Shaquille O’Neal and ask, “Can I get a retweet from the most dominant center ever?” Shaq then retweets. Who knew he would be responding for the late, great Wilt Chamberlain? Never knew “The Stilt” ever had a Twitter account.

Another day, another member of the Chicago Luvabulls to feature. Today we have Erika, one of the dance team’s co-captains. Erika is in her 10th season with the dance team.

Chicago Crave owner Korie Kellogg

In that yesterday was 12/12/12 (provided that you are reading this on 12/13/12), today is Thursday. Which means it is time once again for the weekly interview show “Sports & Torts” co-hosted by David Spada and Elliott Harris at noon Chicago time on talkzone.com. The Dec. 13 edition of the highly acclaimed show (well, it’s highly acclaimed in the Spada and Harris households, among — reportedly — other locales) features Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Fred Biletnikoff, who played for the Oakland Raiders; and Korie Kellogg, owner of the Bikini Basketball Association’s Chicago Crave.

The Crave is holding tryouts Sunday (Dec. 16) at Lifetime Fitness in Orland Park from noon-3 p.m. for females age 18 and older. For more information about the tryouts, you can go to the Crave’s web site by clicking here.

Always room for more videos. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show received a replay Wednesday night on the CW. So the least we can do around here is provide some footage from those festivities:

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming (which for the most part means attractive females):
