Rumor has it that the NCAA men’s basketball tournament was in action Thursday (March 22). Some of us did not watch a minute of the action. Otherwise occupied in what is known as dedication to one’s craft (assuming whatever it is that we do around here can be considered a craft).
And so, there we were at the Chicago Rush-Orlando Predators game in an Arena Football League matchup at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. For those interested in such sport, let the record show the Rush held on for a 51-49 victory. For those less interested, let the record show the Adrenaline Rush Dancers were in midseason form. Or some sort of form pleasing to the crowd.
Also on hand to help entertain the crowd was Shanon Lersch, who served as the mistress of ceremonies (now that’s a fairly exotic, if inexact, title) and provided energy with on-field activities during breaks in the action.
Shanon and the Adrenaline Rush Dancers did tend to be the focus of your humble correspondent, who nonetheless did keep track of some of the game’s football activities. Such as:
Rush quarterback Russ Michna completed five touchdown passes to Reggie Gray, who had 10 receptions for 104 yards. The Rush improved to 2-0, while the Predators (0-2) lost their first road game.
* Elsewhere in the world of pro football involving Chicago, the Bears signed running back Michael Bush. He is expected to be the backup to Matt Forte, who expressed displeasure at being “disrepected” (because Forte wants more money after being given the franchise tag). Forte lacks the leverage of being an unrestricted free agent, so he will have to settle for earning less than some of the league’s better running backs.
“I can understand where the guy’s coming from,” Bush said. “Everything they’ve asked, he has done. As a player myself, I’ve been through an injury. We drafted Darren McFadden [fourth overall in 2008] when I was with the [Oakland] Raiders. It’s just one of those things where you want to be rewarded for your success. I understand, but that has nothing to do with me. I’m going to help him become a better player, and he’s going to push me as well. It will be great working with him.”
After an initial message from Forte on Twitter — tweet: “For the record I’m not mad at the signing of another running back. This is 4th time that’s happened. I embrace competition as well as help. But as for not taking care of ur own and undervaluing a player under his market value is another story!” — he issued another tweet:

If Forte signs the Bears’ tender of $7.742 million for 2012, he will be reasonably compensated. Or so most people would agree. Forte not being in that category. The Bears have said they want to work out a multi-year deal, but the two sides appear far apart. If people want to get all worked up about all this, they are more than welcome to do so.
For some of us, however, there are videos to view, thank you:
Playboy Golf finals are to be held March 28-April 1 in Los Angeles. Playmate Jaime Edmondson (January 2010) provides some perspective on that plus an instructional video (OK, the lovely lass taking her first golf swing) here.
To get in the mood for some Playboy Golf, here is a video featuring Crystal McCahill, the May 2009 Playmate:
And a little more video for good measure (or something like that):
