Some big shots will be in town Friday and Saturday. Not so much movers and shakers as they are arcade-game players.
The fourth annual Big Buck Hunter World Championships will be held Sept. 23 and 24 at Chicago’s Cubby Bear. Located across the street from Wrigley Field (home of baseball’s beloved Cubs), the action at the Cubby Bear qualifies as the closest Cubs fans will get to a world championship any time in the foreseeable future (and the not so seeable past with the team failing to win a World Series since 1908 or appear in one since 1945).
For the first time, the Big Buck Hunter Pro and Big Buck Safari tournaments will be combined for one overall tournament. Qualifying occurred this summer. The grand winner will receive $15,000 of the more than $50,000 that will be awarded during the competition.
The public is welcome to attend. Doors open at 5 p.m. Friday with the Ladies Tournament beginning at 7. On Saturday doors open at 10 a.m. with the World Championship to start at noon. The action will be shown on big screens. There is a $10 cover each day.
Trevor Floren of Lake Villa, Ill., is the Big Hunter Pro champ; Alex DerHohannesian of New York is the Safari champ. Among the 2010 participants was NASCAR driver Travis Patrana, who will be competing again this year. Addition information is available at bigbuckhunter.com.
Most importantly (well, to some in the audience) is knowing the Big Buck Girls will be appearing both days at the tournament. Which is more than enough justification to run photos of them. As if justification is necessary when you’re the one running the Web site.
Somebody kindly cue the photo department for a couple of pictures (one with Travis and one without):
