Bulls Score Timely Blowout vs. 76ers

January 19, 2014 @ No Comments

Sunday smorgasbord: The Chicago Bulls scored a 103-78 victory against the visiting (and seemingly disinterested) Philadelphia 76ers Saturday. Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich was a plus-38 points in 30 minutes of playing time. Equally amazing, no starter played more than 32 minutes (and, yes, that would be Jimmy Butler). And once again the Bulls (19-20) are within one victory of being .500. Oh, joy!

Another reason the Chicago Bears should bring back cheerleaders.

* Even more incredible than posting a 25-point victory, the Bulls were able to agree to a deal that will send former first-round pick Marquis Teague to the Brooklyn Nets for forward Tornike Shengelia. Teague may have potential, but it never appeared it would be realized with the Bulls. And, yes, he is better off being a disappointment in the NBA than having remained at Kentucky. Unless, he took a pay cut to go to the NBA.

* Speaking of undergraduates exiting early, did I miss the outcry about 2013 U.S Amateur champion Matt Fitzpatrick departing Northwestern University after one semester to play golf full time? Or do people voice such concerns only about basketball and football?

* Speaking of Northwestern, the Wildcats’ 54-47 victory at Indiana make basketball coach Chris Collins a favorite for Big Ten coach of the year. OK, maybe Big Ten rookie coach of the year. The Cats (9-10) might need a winning record for Collins to receive any votes. Not to detract from the victory against the Hoosiers, but Indiana might have been guilty of looking ahead to playing Michigan State.

* Former Cubs second baseman Ryne Sandberg and former pitcher Greg Maddux were invited to Cubs Convention but were unable to attend because of scheduling conflicts. Not because Sandberg didn’t become Cubs manager, of course. Not because Maddux was just voted into the Hall of Fame after a brilliant career with Atlanta (after the Cubs let him depart via free agency), of course.

Here’s Seattle Sea Gals performer Jackie.

* From the fine folks at Bovada, (www.Bovada.lv, Twitter: @BovadaLV) come some odds. Strictly for entertainment purposes, mind you. Of course, should you decide to wager on any of these and pocket more money than you know what to do with, you always can make a donation to this site. OK, maybe not. Anyway here are some numbers for perusal:
