Goodbye, Columbus. OK, so there isn’t a hello, Columbus, to go with that sentiment. The Arnold Sports Festival has begun in Columbus, Ohio. Unlike the last few years, your humble correspondent will not be attending. Yes, wait till next year is a theme that some of us are familiar with. In this case, there is a far greater sense of optimism and likelihood of success.
* Speaking of “The Arnold,” pole fitness was among the activities featured. For the first time. With a little luck, video of what transpired at the Pole Fitness National Championship competition Thursday will surface and find its way onto this site. Until then, some other pole video (you can scroll down to find them) will have to suffice.
* Still speaking of Columbus, the Rock Star Bikini contest — certainly one of my favorite events of the activities associated with “The Arnold” — also was Thursday. With a little luck, video of what transpired at that function will surface and find its way onto this site. Until then, some other bikini video (you can scroll down to find them) will have to suffice. I’m confident promoter Shonda Lewis put on another fantastic show.
* Having been waived by the Sacramento Kings, Jimmer Fredette reportedly is going to sign with the Chicago Bulls after he clears waivers. Because the Bulls could use a player who can shoot. And because the Bulls don’t have enough undersized guards.
* Speaking of coming up short, the Chicago Cubs opened their spring-training schedule with an 5-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The important thing for the Cubs were two scoreless innings by starter Jeff Samardzija, a 2-for-2 game by shortstop Starlin Castro and a Cactus League record crowd of 14,486 in the team’s new ballpark in Mesa, Ariz. Not necessarily in that order of importance to the folks who run and/or own the ballclub.
Here is where to go for a daily dose of non-gratuitous video (thanks to the efficacious efforts of the editorial and video departments at ElliottHarris.com — OK, we’re still looking into what “efficacious” means):
