Return Games: Danielle, Devin & More

October 23, 2011 @ No Comments

She’s back. Danielle Moinet has resurfaced — in the United States and as a pigskin prognosticator. The former Chicago Bliss all-fantasy player (as in Lingerie Football League) has returned from China. She also has returned to winning ways in her weekly NFL predictions at turdfergson.com.

Danielle Moinet's back -- from her LFL playing days.

Delightful Danielle went 4-1 in Week 6 to make her season totals 19-11. He choices for Week 7: San DIego over New York Jets, Chicago over Tampa Bay, Dallas over St. Louis, New Orleans over Indianapolis and Baltimore over Jacksonville.

Notes Danielle: “I’m not sure why the NFL made this game the Monday Night game, but I will tell you that the Ravens are my front-runners to win the AFC. You might end up flipping over to the World Series after the first quarter of this one. And oh by the way, Rangers in 6.”

OK, not unless Texas rallies mightily will it dispose of the St. Louis Cardinals in six games. Maybe not even in seven. The Cards need to play .500 baseball (2-2) to win the 11th World Series crown in franchise history. For the Rangers to repeat as world champions, they have to win three of four.

Returning to football, here is what Bodog has to say regarding Bears star Devin Hester’s likelihood of becoming the all-time leader in NFL return touchdowns:

Will Devin Hester tie or break Deion Sanders record of 19 career return touchdowns in the 2011 Regular Season? (Note: Hester currently has 17):
Yes 5/1

Still speaking of return games, the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers are making a strong case for returning to the NFL’s championship game. They are the seventh defending NFL champion to begin the following season at least 6-0. Of those teams, the 1998 Denver Broncos and 2004 New ENgland Patriots repeated as Lombardi Trophy winners.

Defending Super Bowl champions that started the season 6-0 or better:
Team (start): Final record
1986 Chicago Bears (6-0): 14-2
1990 San Francisco 49ers (10-0): 14-2
1998 Denver Broncos (13-0): 14-2
2000 St. Louis Rams (6-0): 10-6
2004 New England Patriots (6-0): 14-2
2007 Indianapolis Colts (7-0): 13-3)

With a 119.6 rating against St. Louis, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers became the first player in NFL history with a 110+ passer rating in each of his first six games to start a season. His passer rating is 122.5. He is on pace to surpass former Packers great Bart Starr for highest passer rating by a quarterback in a season afer being Super Bowl MVP. Starr was 104.3 in 1968. ROdgers also can challenge Peyton Manning’s season passer rating record of 121.1 in 2004 for the Indianapolis Colts.

Tampa Bay cheerleaders have invaded England, though not in these outfits.

“You have to keep it in perspective,” Rodgers says. “Success is incredible. The numbers, they look good now, but let’s look at them at the end of the year. If they’re still right there at the top, that will feel good, but our ultimate goal here is to win Super Bowls. It won’t feel good unless we’re in Indianapolis this year, actually playing in the game and completing the journey.”

The last Packers 7-0 start came in 1962.
