Bears-Dolphins Could Use Some Cheerleaders

October 19, 2014 @ No Comments

Sunday smorgasbord: The Chicago Bears play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field. Meaning there will be no cheerleaders on the sidelines because the Bears haven’t had them since their Super Bowl-winning season of 1985. Once again, a plea to the NFL powers-that-be: When the home team doesn’t have cheerleaders, the visiting team should be allowed to bring its own. No doubt commissioner Roger Goodell will get right on that — right after he deals with trying to make it at least look like the league cares about victims of domestic violence, concussions, etc. Please don’t hold your breath while you wait for any of that to occur.

Having Dolphins cheerleaders such as Jodi would be a welcome addition for Sunday's Bears game at Soldier Field.

* Speaking of trying to polishing your image, Florida State defeated visiting Notre Dame 31-27. Irish fans were complaining about an offensive pass-interference call that cost Notre Dame a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. It remains unclear whether God is a Florida State fan or whether He/She (yes, there is the possibility God is female) was flipping channels and not paying attention to the contest then.

* Speaking of Florida State, Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher would appear to have no moral compass regarding FSU quarterback Jamesis Winston. Then again, the same could be said for Irish coach Brian Kelly. And a fair number of other major-college sports such as football and basketball.

* For those looking to pass some time until the Bears game kicks off, here are some prop bets (purely for entertainment purposes; unless, of course, you happen to win big bucks — in which case you might want to consider a non-tax-deductible contribution to ElliottHarris.com) from the fine folks at Bovada, (www.Bovada.lv, Twitter: @BovadaLV):
