Bulls Not Going to Back Into a Title

February 13, 2012 @ No Comments

Monday meanderings: Chicago Bulls fans might be taken aback to know the team is 6-6 vs. .500 or better teams and 17-1 vs. sub-.500 teams.

*Speaking of backs (or at least being taken aback), Derrick Rose’s back problem could be a pain in the posterior if they prove to be lingering for the Bulls guard/reigning NBA MVP.

A photo of April Morrison or one of a Bulls player? No contest.

* The Bulls are 18-5 with Rose in the lineup and 5-2 without him. The record without him is either a credit to the players and coaching staff or a discredit to the quality of teams in the NBA.

* Speaking of games without Rose, the Bulls lost Sunday to the Celtics in Boston 95-91. For all those extolling the selection of Luol Deng as a reserve for the NBA’s all-star game, he had 10 points on 3-of-12 shooting from the field. For all those questioning his selection, feel free to continue to do so.

* The reality is the Bulls — even when everyone is healthy (Richard “Rip” Hamilton should be good to go by the playoffs, no?) — the Miami Heat still has better talent. And the Bulls have no one to stop LeBron James. Then again, about the only one who can stop James is James.

* The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue will be uncovered on Monday’s “Late Show With David Letterman.” Meaning that the annual best-selling issue will be available on Tuesday (Feb. 14), which happens to be Valentine’s Day. Just a guess that the magazine is not the perfect gift to give one’s wife or girlfriend (presumably that’s an either/or proposition, but you never know).

* Speaking of swimsuits, the editorial staff at elliottharris.com thought the following video might be suitable, even if it is not from SI’s swimsuit issue. This is April Morrison, who competed in the bikini category at the NABBA Great Lakes Open in November in Oswego, Ill. April won the bikini short and overall titles. We look forward to seeing more of her. Hope this is OK with everyone. If it’s not, sorry (not really):

For those who missed the 2012 Grammy Awards on Sunday, the best part probably depended on your musical taste. For those of us who can remember when Paul McCartney was a member of a popular group called the Beatles, Sir Paul provided the best part with his closing effort. So what is McCartney’s sports connection (as if any is necessary)? He did provide the halftime entertainment at Super Bowl XXXIX. OK?

Anyway, here is the closing number from the Grammys:

And McCartney’s performance earlier in the program:
