Tweet life for Noah, Sweet Life for Bulls

Welcome back, Richard “Rip” Hamilton. Welcome to Twitter, Joakim Noah. And a welcome ending for the Chicago Bulls in their game Tuesday (Feb. 28) against the New Orleans Hornets at the United Center.

When the choice of running a photograph is that of a Bull or a Luvabull, it's no contest. Especially when co-captain Kafi is concerned.

The Chicago Bulls scored the game’s last eight points — six by Derrick Rose and two by Noah — to prevail 99-95. Despite the victory, the game left a bad taste in some fans’ mouths because there will not be the taste of free Big Macs from McDonald’s.

Rose missed two free throws with 4.3 seconds left. A made shot would have meant 100 points in a Bulls victory. Which would have meant a free Big Mac for each fan. As Rose noted in the locker room to the media after the game, he saved McDonald’s some money. Yes and no. Something says once fans redeem their tickets for Big Macs, the patrons purchase other items. Meaning the visits may prove profitable for the stores. But, hey, that’s an unsubstantiated story — even if the financial analysis department at elliottharris.com is sticking to it. OK, there’s not really a financial analysis department around here. Gee, can’t put anything past you, can we?

“We will take the win,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said.

Meanwhile, Noah has taken to Twitter where he is @JoakimNoah. At last look, he was closing in on 14,000 followers. His first Tweet: “General Tso.” Noah’s effort was far from so-so. He had 15 points and 16 rebounds against the Hornets — although he fell short of a second consecutive triple-double by five assists.

Noah was whisked out of the locker room to head for a plane to San Antonio where the Bulls play the Spurs Wednesday (Feb. 29) before he could clarify a question that one inquiring reporter had: Whether the tweet was for the 19th century Chinese military leader or for the American-Chinese dish General Tso’s Chicken. C’est la vie, c’est la guerre. Say what?

By now, you may be curious why a photo of Luvabulls co-captain Kafi Thompson is running rather than one of Rose or Noah or …

And the reason is fairly simple (as is the person typing this at 2:45 a.m.): Because.

Because that is the joy of being the designated typist/photo selector/etc. You get to do pretty much what you want. And the editorial staff at elliottharris.com made the hard choice of running a photo of her/ Decisions, decisions. Also because Kafi is among the scheduled guests for Thursday’s (March 1) edition of “Sports & Torts” at noon Chicago time on talkzone.com. The program also is available on podcast for those who might be unable to listen live. Kafi will be an in-studio guest. Which is just fine with with co-hosts David Spada and Elliott Harris.

Also scheduled to be on the show are two men with Bulls connections: former player Chet Walker and former coach Dick Motta. Ah, there’s nothing quite like shameless self-promotion, is there?
