MJ at Something of a Loss at Cubs’ Victory

April 25, 2012 @ No Comments

Midweek musings: Former Chicago Bulls star and current Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan was at Wrigley Field for the Chicago Cubs-St. Louis Cardinals game on Tuesday night (April 24). Perhaps he was there to make himself feel good about his woeful franchise. After all you can measure Charlotte’s futility in decades as opposed to the Cubs who can do so in terms of a century-plus.

* Thanks to their 3-2 victory Tuesday in 10 innings, the Cubs are assured of their first series victory of the season. At this rate, they might keep their total losses for the season to less than 100 — but only if they can keep playing the Cardinals for 45-50 times in 2012.

* With the Miami Heat losing Tuesday (while resting its star players), the Chicago Bulls earn — OK, more like back in to — the top seed in the East for the NBA’s postseason. Which means Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau should have the luxury of resting injured players — most notably reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose — to have the team in shape for a playoff run rather than a playoff limp.

* The NBA has suspended Metta World Peace of the Los Angeles Lakers for seven games without pay for throwing an elbow that concussed James Harden of the Oklahoma City Thunder during Sunday’s game. It appears NBA commissioner David Stern wants to give Peace a chance. Well, actually another one for the multiple offender formerly known as Ron Artest.

Loop Rock Girl Tricia is going to be on "Sports & Torts" Thursday at noon CHicago time on talkzone.com.

You want pictures of perfection and/or pitchers of perfection? Then you might want to check out “Sports & Torts” with co-hosts David Spada and Elliott Harris on Thursday (April 26) at noon Chicago time on talkzone.com. Among the scheduled guests are Loop Rock Girl Tricia (who once was a collegiate softball pitcher) and former big-league pitcher Don Larsen, who has the only perfect game in World Series history. It came in the 1956 Fall Classic against the Brooklyn Dodgers.

As long as we’re talking about “Sports & Torts,” let the record show there are chances to become involved with the program as an advertiser. Hey, you might even end up on the air for a segment (although there is no guarantee that a beautiful female will be in the studio at the same time). For information about running commercials on the program, contact David Spada by email at david@injuryinillinois.com.

Perhaps some video with Tricia will get you warmed up for the main event on Thursday’s program. If you are unable to catch the broadcast, it will be available on podcast at talkzone.com. Anyway, here is Tricia with an in-studio interview coming on Thursday’s program.
