Boozer Gets Wish; Bulls Get Loss vs. Kings

February 4, 2014 @ No Comments

Random thoughts (or as close to them as we come around here) while wondering whether the Winter Olympics someday will consider adding a new sport — clearing the driveway of snow and ice — because I spent much of Monday working on my technique in that particular endeavor:

This Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover with Kathy Ireland was named the best.

* Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer complained about a lack of fourth-quarter playing time, so coach Tom Thibodeau obliged him against the host Sacramento Kings. All it took was for center Joakim Noah to be ejected from the game for drawing two technical fouls and for the Bulls to be losing by double digits while they were challenged to shoot better than 30 percent from the field.

* Speaking of poor shooting, the Bulls finished with 28.2 percent from the field. Just a guess that you can’t win an NBA game with that sort of shooting. Actually, that’s not a guess. More like an accurate statement. As opposed to inaccurate shooting.

* If there is a bright side to the Bulls’ loss to one of the league’s worst teams (the Kings improved to 16-32, tied with Utah for worst in the Western Conference), Noah should be well-rested for Tuesday night’s game at Phoenix after playing only 19 minutes. Well, that’s about as bright as anything associated with Monday’s performance.

* In contrast to the ugliness of the Bulls’ effort, there was beauty to be seen earlier in the evening. NBC aired a special on the 50 years of Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues. Taking the title as the No. 1 cover of them all was the 1989 25th anniversary edition with Kathy Ireland (who still looks good, in case you didn’t have a chance to see her).

* Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning found the term “embarrassing” for his team’s 43-8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII insulting. OK, so the future Hall of Famer can pick out any adjective he wants. The reality is his quarterback rating (24.4) was the worst in a Super Bowl since Rex Grossman posted a 7.1 for the Chicago Bears against the Indianapolis Colts (for whom Manning was playing) in 2006.
