Bulls Find Road to Road Victory vs. Suns

Midwek musings: So the Chicago Bulls defeated the host Phoenix Suns 101-92 on Tuesday. The Bulls beat a team that had a 16-7 home record. So they can beat good teams. A night after losing to one of the worst teams in the league, the Sacramento Kings. What can we glean from all this? Not much. Other than the Bulls — like so many other NBA teams — can be consistently inconsistent.

Loop Rock Girl Shannon wants to remind it’s time to flip the calendar to February.

* With a 2-2 record on their road trip, the Bulls (24-24) enjoyed a 19-point, 12-rebound effort from Carlos Boozer. Boozer had eight points in the first quarter, two in the second, seven in the third and two in the fourth. His fourth-quarter playing time remains limited. In case he was wondering whether his lobbying for more minutes late in the game had much impact on coach Tom Thibodeau.

* For those who think talk is cheap, let the record show Bulls center Joakim Noah was fined $15,000 for his obscenity-filled outburst directed at the officials in Monday’s game at Sacramento. Here’s hoping the money goes to a worthy cause.

*The Chicago Cubs have sealed the deal in one of their key offseason negotiations. Giordano’s will be the team’s official pizza at Wrigley Field. Well, if the team’s roster fails to whet fans’ appetites, at least some of the concessions might.

* Chicago reportedly is lobbying to be the host for the 2019 Super Bowl. Because Chicago in late January/early February is so appealing? Well, more like it’s one way to boost tourism during a time when most people opt for destinations that have warmer weather, beaches, no snow and things like that. A Super Bowl in a cold-weather city should at least have a domed stadium. And at last look, Soldier Field did not have a dome. Not that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell or Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel need to worry about such creature comforts because people in those positions generally find themselves watching the game from luxury suites.
