Bulls’ Thibodeau Has His Way on Media Day

September 30, 2014 @ No Comments

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau scored his first victory of the season Monday. Of course, it came at the Advocate Center rather than the nearby United Center. And it came against a group of media members rather than an actual NBA team in a game that meant something in the won-lost column.

Pretty sure Playboy Playmate Ashley Doris was not at Bulls media day. Unfortunately.

Even though Thibodeau was outmanned (and outwomaned as well), it was a decisive outcome that featured something rarer than a quadruple double. Namely Thibodeau smiling and chuckling at the expense of his interrogators.

Asked a variety of questions regarding the 2014-15 season, Thibodeau let fly with a shot he seems to have perfected in the offseason: “We’ll see.”

The level of performance to expect from guard Derrick Rose, who has missed almost the last two seasons in their entirety. The way the team integrates free agent Pau Gasol into the flow of the offense. The way to develop rookies Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic. The other teams to expect to challenge for the Eastern Conference title.

If Thibodeau was envisioning anything, he wasn’t saying.

Of course, on media day even the lowliest of teams has grand expectations. Or at least a better season ahead than the one past.

[We have a few media day videos below. If things go according to plan — which they occasionally do around here — there will be more for Wednesday’s edition]

The documentary tells the tale of preparing for the race.

CSNChicago.com also will have the documentary and additional material. The documentary also will be replayed Oct. 3 at 8:30 p.m., Oct. 7 at 8:30 a.m. and Oct. 18 at 3:30 p.m.

Kudos to executive producer Sarah Lauch and Comcast SportsNet on a program that has no connection to the teams that are part-owners of the channel.
