The Chicago Bears have placed the franchise tag on running back Matt Forte. Meaning he will earn $7.7 million for the 2012 season (well, unless both sides reach agreement on a new, long-term deal). And there are some folks out there who are decrying the deal that doesn’t reward Forte enough.
To which some of us can only say: Huh???
First of all (unless it happens to be second or third with you, but then that would be your problem), rewarding for past performance is a bad way to run a sports franchise. That is especially true regarding NFL running backs whose careers generally don’t last all that long. Add in the fact that Forte had a season-ending injury in 2011, and there is even greater cause for concern — if you are the Bears.
Second of all, who really cares what a team pays its players? Michael Jordan operated under a contract that was ridiculously inexepensive in his early years with the Chicago Bulls. He never balked (of course, he did have zillions of dollars coming in through endorsement deals to help MJ afford certain of life’s luxuries), and when his time came for a new conract, he was rewarded handsomely by the Bulls. That’s just bsiness, folks.
If you want to complain about players being underpaid or overpaid, go right ahead. But it’s not going to change anything.
April Rose always is a welcome sight on this site. Here is she is on her latest “Maximum Exposure” with the highlight being — at least from this perspective — from a recent photo session she had:
Congratulations to Nicole Wilkins on winning her third Figure International title at the Arnold Sports Festival Friday (March 2) in Columbus, Ohio. Runner-up was Erin Fast, followed by Candice Keene, Ava Cowan, Heather Dees and Teresa Nicole.
Here is some video with Nicole and yours truly from the 2011 Arnold. If things go according to plan (and occasionally they actually do), your humble correspondent will make every effort to get a brief interview with Nicole at The Arnold:
One of the more interesting booths at the The Arnold 2012 was captured in this video:
And, yes, there will be more from The Arnold and various photo shoots with Don Bersano in the days to come. And also from the Rock Star Swimsuit event. Still trying to figure out HD problems with those videos.
