LeBron Points (as in 45) Heat to Game 7

June 8, 2012 @ No Comments

OK, so LeBron James was impressive in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, as the Miami Heat defeated the Celtics 98-79 in Boston to force a Game 7 in Miami. He had 45 points (19-of-26 from the field) and 15 rebounds. There is no question about James’ talent (some even consider James a greater offensive force and more formidable player than Michael Jordan was). There remains the question of whether James will match MJ’s six NBA titles. Heck, there’s still the question of whether he will one.

A photo of Ellis of the Luvabulls or LeBron or D-Rose? It's no contest, fellas.

* Speaking of NBA stars, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose will come back better than ever from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. So say some of his teammates as well as other. And the basis is the type of person that Rose is. As opposed to any scientific or rational reasoning. Blind Faith was the name of a band, not a way to guarantee an athlete recovering from surgery is going to improve upon when last healthy.

* Speaking of the Bulls, the editorial staff at elliottharris.com has not forgotten to keep running photos and videos of Luvabulls during the NBA postseason. Today we have Ellis, who was a rookie this season. You can check out here video here.

* Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte was on the NFL Network in his campaign for a higher salary. Ranked by the cable channel as No. 33 as its “Top 100 Players of 2012″ program, Forte was the No. 7 running back on the list. If he cannot convince the Bears to give him what he thinks is adequate compensation, he will have to settle for the money that comes from a franchise tag: $7.7 milllion. With all those numbers, you’d might think he’d be in seventh or seven heaven. Waging a public campaign is not going to win Forte any points with Bears management. Or more importantly, any more money. Not that he doesn’t have the right to do so. But reality hits hard sometimes, often more hard than a defensive lineman or linebacker does.

* Speaking of being fairly compensated, a No. 1 draft pick who might opt not to sign with the Chicago Cubs seems so previous regime. Draft picks represented by agent Scott Boras rarely bore us.

Monica Abbott was all smiles after a 4-1 season-opening National Pro Fastpich victory for the Chicago Bandits.

Monica Abbott just flew in from Japan and, boy, are her arms tired. Actually, it was her legs, but that ruins the punch line from the old joke. She did suffer from a little jet lag after she took a flight from Japan, where she had been playing softball, to the United States on Tuesday. She made it to Chicago on Wednesday and was pitching for the National Pro Fastpitch Chicago Bandits on Thursday night (June 7).

Abbott picked up where she left off: Pitching the Bandits past the USSSA Pride. In her previous outing, it was for the 2011 National Pro Fastpitch title. On Thursday, the left-hander threw a one-hitter in a 4-1 NPF season-opening contest at the Ballpark at Rosemont.

The only hit off Abbott, who struck out 10, was a sixth-inning single by Francesca Enea.

“I was a little annoyed to give up that hit to Enea, because it was on a changeup, and she probably expected it,” Abbott said. “I had thrown a couple changeups at her earlier in the game.”

It's always a fun time when lovely, lively Lariyah Daniels is in studio for a "Sports & Torts" appearance.

Speaking of favorite females, Lariyah Daniels was an in-studio guest on the June 7 edition of “Sports & Torts” with co-hosts David Spada and Elliott Harris. Lariyah is a model, singer with hard rock group Hessler, personal trainer and more. The program airs live on Thursdays at noon. Thankfully, the show also is available on podcast, so you can listen to and view Lariyah’s interview. Also on the show was Marvin Miller, the former chief of the Major League Players Association. If ever there was a person who belongs in baseball’s Hall of Fame, it is Miller. You can hear his assessment why he never will be voted in — among other topics that he addresses. To check out the show, you can click here.

To become an advertiser on the show (and have the possibility of being in the studio when one of the fetching females is present), persons may contact david@injuryinillinois.com.
