Best moment of the weekend in the sports world? If you’re a Chicago Bears fan, it was Sunday’s victory in London over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you’re a St. Louis Cardinals fan, it was Saturday’s World Series victory over the Texas Rangers with Albert Pujols hitting a record-tying three home runs and drove in six runs in a 5-for-6 effort. If you’re a Rangers fan, it was Sunday’s 4-0 victory vs. the Cards to tie the Series at two games apiece.

And for some of us, the highlight was a PCW event Saturday night at the Preston Rec Center in Midlothian, Ill. Aside from the wrestling, there was marvelous Mickie James of WWE, TNA and Impact fame. Not only did she entertain the crowd with a little microphone action in the ring, she also put one of PCW’s top female wrestlers, December, in her place (which happened to be on the mat this time).
Beyond that, Mickie signed autographs for a long line of fans and was gracious with each and every one. It’s easy to see why — aside from her good looks and wrestling skills — she is a fan favorite. Next time PL Myers brings her to the Chicago area for a show, however, he needs to put it in the contract that Mickie also will sing!
Some random thoughts that your humble correspondent just might have tweeted over the weekend (you can follow @elliottharris, if you’re so inclined):
* Waiting for Tim McCarver to say the most important game in a best-of-7 series when each team has won 2 games is Game 5.
* Colts apparently think No. 1 draft pick tie-breaker is point differential.
* Waiting for Tim McCarver to tell us that no best-of-7 World Series that has been tied at 2 games apiece has gone less than six games.
* Those bow ties make Ken Rosenthal look a little too much like Pee-wee Herman.
* Wondering how many innings it will take StL Cardinals to score more runs than Rams had points in 34-7 loss to Cowboys. #neverwasgoodatmath
* Does Joe Buck’s head (especially his forehead) grow increasingly larger each World Series, or does his body merely shrink?
* OK, after all these years, when is Fox going to let Homer Simpson sing the national anthem?
* If George W. Bush is looking for weapons of mass self-destruction, he might wander to the Texas Rangers bullpen.
* Wondering whether Cubs & Red Sox will decide on Epstein compensation by resorting to game of rock-paper-scissors. Theo arm-wrestling John Henry?
