MJ’s Asking Price for Home Some Number

February 29, 2012 @ No Comments

Midweek musings: Former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan has put his 56,000-square-foot house in Highland Park, Ill., on the market for $29 million. Somehow 23 sounds more fitting. To which Chicago Tribune scribe and wit Mark Caro tweeted to suggest MJ had lowered it from 45.

* Chicago White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf tells fans via Comcast SportsNet Chicago, “Don’t write us off.” Mainly because if they do, Reinsdorf & Co. will need to find some writeoffs to make losses (financial and otherwise) palatable.

Nice pair -- of Playboy calendars. Details below.

* The White Sox may end up with their closer being Addison Reed. If the guy ever ends up pitch for the Cubs, he ought to change his name to Addison Clark.

* The Chicago Bears have raised tickets prices for about 85 percent of their tickets, though not for those in suites. And you thought Mitt Romney was looking out for the 1 percenters.

* Speaking of football, the NFL has moved its opening game from a Thursday to a Wednesday in September to avoid a conflict with President Barack Obama, who will be giving a speech at the Democratic National Convention. Still waiting for the Republican response chastising Obama for singlehandedly ruining the 2012 season.

* The NBA says its popularity is up but its profitability is down. So now the goal is to become less popular and more profitable? Hate to keep using political references (OK, don’t really hate to), but sounds like a job for Romney.

It seems like only yesterday that we were writing about Derrick Rose and dancing. Well, actually it was (assuming that you are reading this in some sort of chronological order). And about the reaction to Rose not dancing during NBA all-star game introductions. Well, we can only hope everyone is over that by now because there is even bigger dance news (hard to believe, isn’t it?)

“Dancing With the Stars” announced its latest lineup on Tuesday for the ABC television show. And, as always is the case, athletes are part of the cast — with a notable one from the past: tennis legend Martina Navratilova. Of course, some in the audience out there are wondering whether her partner will be female. Tsk, tsk.

Others in the cast for Season 14 of the show:

Singer Gavin DeGraw, hip-hop producer Roshon Fegan, actress Melissa Gilbert, opera star Katherine Jenkins, singer Gladys Knight (apparenly Pipless), telenovela star William Levy (“the Brad Pitt of Mexico” — minus an Angelina Jolie), “Extra” co-host Maria Menounos, “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd, soap-opera actor Jack Wagner and actor Jaleel White.

Appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Robin Roberts said to Navratilova: “Athletes seem to have a little bit of an advantage. Is it just because of your attitude or is it the physical training that you’re used to?”

Navratilova: “Once you get to know the muscles and the way they work then you can transfer it into another [discipline]. But tennis is all closed up and [dancing] is all open. My hands are totally doing the wrong things. It’s a learning a experience, but it’s a challenge.”

And, yes, this site has been slightly remiss about a favorite miss. Namely, Playboy Playmate Jaime Edmondson (Jan. 2010).

Here is her latest Play-by-Playmate offering that can be found at playboy.com. As if that’s not enough, Jaime is offering a Leap Day special on her web site — purchase a signed Playboy Lingerie calendar and receive a 2012 Playmate calendar free — at jaimeedmondson.net.

What's better than a photo of model Vivian Kindle? Some of us believe three heads are better than one.

April Rose, from the February Maxim, always is a welcome sight on this site. And on anyone else's as well.

Jaime just did a podcast with Jimmy Traina, who pens (or however this stuff in cyberspace is produced) the Extra Mustard section at SI.com. Jimmy does a great job with his “Hot Clicks.” He recently featured Vivian Kindle, who appeared in this space several weeks ago. Just shows that we both have an excellent eye (possibly even more than one) for fetching females.

And on Tuesday Jimmy had April Rose as his Lovely Lady Of the Day. No argument around here. As faithful readers (and even the philanders) know, April is a favorite on this site. Given her jet-setting around for various projects, it wouldn’t be surprising to have the former Maxim Hometown Hotties winner end up in a podcast with Traina. Yes, great minds think alike. And so do Jimmy and I.

To see April at SI.com, you can click here.

As promised Tuesday, here is more Nicole Moneer Guerrero, the IFBB pro and personal trainer who had a session with photographer Don Bersano on Saturday. If memory serves (and every once in a while, it actually does), Nicole has another photo shoot with Don on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, where they will be taking in The Anrold Sports Festival that runs March 1-4. As fate would have it, the Ohio photo shoot will be the one with bikinis. Rather than be present for that one, your humble correspondent will have to wait for Don’s finished work, so that it can appear on this site.

As a consolation prize, here is some video of Nicole from her fitness photo shoot at USA Gym in Bridgeview, Ill.:
