There is something to be said for basically sleeping the day away. Strictly for therapeutic/preventive purposes regarding illnesses. Which was the justification that I used to try to ward off some malady that is attempting to take over the respiratory system.
So what did I miss by spending the majority of the day in dreamland? Well, other than Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah being named a reserve for the Eastern Conference squad in the NBA’s all-star game, not much.
And we’re another day closer to Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVIII. With that in mind (and little else), we offer up something from the fine folks at Bovada, (www.Bovada.lv, Twitter: @BovadaLV). Because your humble correspondent is slightly under the weather. And the weather isn’t so hot. Snow? Did someone say more snow?
Anyway, here is Bovada.lv sports book manager Kevin Bradley’s perspective:
“With only a few days away this looks to be our highest wagered Super Bowl ever, on pace to be 25% higher than last year. We are starting to see some more Seattle money and what was 60% of the action for the first 10 days on Denver is now down to 55% both on the spread and the money line. What surprises me is even with the weather looking to be warmer and less chance of snow, 70% of the bets are still on the Under 47.”
Among the highest-handle prop bets:
Peyton Manning Passing Yards
Over 290.5: 45% of money
Under 290.5: 55 % of money
Marshawn Lynch Rushing Yards
Over 90.5: 66% of money
Under 90.5: 33% of money
Total Sacks by the Seahawks
Over 2 20% of money
Under 2 80% of money
National Anthem
Over 2 minutes, 25 seconds: 48 % of money
Under 2 minutes, 25 seconds: 52% of money
How many times will Peyton Manning say “Omaha” during the game?
Over 27.5: 60% of money
Under 27.5: 40% of money
