The problem with interviewing people at the Arnold Sports Festival is there are sooooo many people to interview. OK, that’s not really a problem — especially here in cyberspace where there generally is more space for such endeavors than there is in a printed publication.
OK, the real problem with interviewing people at the Arnold is there are so many people to interview and not enough time to reach everyone. That said (or written, as the case may be), your humble correspondent was able to interview a broad range of folks at the annual event in Columbus, Ohio.
A few, including legendary Jamie Eason, were included Monday. And others were featured Saturday and Sunday. And several more will be presented in the next few days, if things go according to plan (and they actually do occasionally). Today we offer the rarest of elliottharris.com interviews from the 2012 show. It’s one with a male, one who wasn’t even a competitor in any of the activities on The Arnold schedule.
Some folks may recall Robb Weller as the host of “A.M. Chicago” whose departure to greener pastures led to a vacancy that a young woman filled. That woman? Oprah Winfrey. Weller went on to “Entertainment Tonight” and forming a production company Weller/Grossman that has provided countless hours of television programming.
So what was Weller doing at The Arnold? Helping a new project gain a higher profile. Weller is part of the heirarchy of www.ATLXTV.com. It’s a fitness entertainment network with grand plans of becoming available on cable TV.
In good taste? Depends on how you view things. In case anyone is concerned Weller will be the only interview today, fear not. There’s plenty more to come from The Arnold. For starters, there is Brittney Layne. Photographer/friend Don Bersano, whose work has been featured from time to time on this site, was kind enough to introduce yours truly to the personable model, who was a MHP demo diva at the show. She also is a bikini competitor. And don’t believe your eyes — as far as the name on the photos that she handed out at the show. Her last name is Layne, not Lane. That’s what Brittney said, and you have to figure she knows what she’s talking about.
Elisabeth Nuesser traveled from Chicago to Columbus. Not as a competitor or a spectator, but as a business person. She is founder and CEO of Fightchix Apparel and had a booth at the show. With attendance at the weekend event appearing to be heavy (as in the number of patrons and not the weight of the patrons), the booth was busy selling female-oriented attire.
Also making the trip to The Arnold from Chicago was another familiar face in Lori Hess. She was at the Clarex booth with another familiar face Salimatu Dumbuya. They were promoting a new product Clarex, which says it helps with focus.
If yours truly had taken a couple of the pills, maybe I would have been focused enough to have taken a video and/or photo of the two togther. In my defense, Salimatu was engaged in deep conversation with a potential patron when the following video was shot (hey, that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it). The editorial staff at elliottharris.com will try to find a way to feature Salimatu in the not-too-distant future. Until then, here is Lori:
“Extra” television host Mario Lopez was able to interview Arnold Schwarzenegger at The Arnold. Here it is:
