Brevity being the soul of wit, the editorial staff at elliottharris.com has decided to be witty today. Or soulful. Or something. Because we go to great lengths to provide pictures of pulchritude around here, we went a great distance (well, certainly greater than some of us are accustomed to) to provide comprehensive coverage of one of the great events in the sporting world: The Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio.
The idea was to journey from Chicago to Columbus in time to attend the pre-judging Thursday (March 1) for the figure, fitness and bikini competitions at the annual event.
But you probably know about the best-laid plans of men … etc. And for some reason, the events went on as scheduled rather than wait for yours truly to arrive.
Which means we — you and I — will have to settle for a competition later in the evening: the 2012 Rock Star Bikini Official Party. Ten formidable figures — fetching females — trying to earn the grand prize.
Among the group was a familiar face (see, on occasion, I am able to focus eye-to-eye): Anjali Antani, who also traveled from Chicago but did so in a much more timely manner. Of course, she was competing in the pre-judging portion of The Arnold bikini event. so she made it to Columbus on Wednesday. Of course, she didn’t have to co-host “Sports & Torts” on Thursday in suburban Chicago (and when you see who the in-studio guest was as you scroll down today, you will understand why I chose to honor my co-hosting commitment).
Well, so much for brevity. We passed that point several hundred words ago. Maybe another time for some wit. Or at least fewer words.
OK, OK.
Without further adieu, here are some videos to view (apologies if the videos do not appear in HD; there seems to be a problem with all that because of a lack of hifi network or something like that; take it from me, it looks eye-popping in HD, and if the problem if able to be rectifed, we will post in HD):
The Rock Star contestants strut their stuff (more videos at a later date; and that’s a promise):
Here is Anjali:
Among the audience was another bikini competitor from Chicago, Johanna Bayne.
And this is why some of us did not leave Chicago earlier to be at The Arnold. Chicago Luvabulls co-captain Kafi Thompson was an in-studio guest on “Sports & Torts” (March 1) on talkzone.com. She spilled the dirt on roommate Ashley Bond, another of the Luvabulls. OK, not really, but co-hosts David Spada and Elliott Harris did have a good time conversing about the Luvabulls, life and more.
Special notice to those attending the Bulls game against the Miami Heat on March 14: The Luvabulls will be performing a Diva halftime show. If you participated in viewing/listening to “Sports & Torts,” you know that. If not, shame on you.
As a public service (and after all, that is why this site exists — and, yes, also to feature fetching females), elliottharris.com will be happy to spearhead any efforts to have the Luvabulls’ halftime extravaganza be televised. The game is an 8:30 p.m. start, which means national television rather than Comcast SportsNet or WGN. Which means the likelihood of seeing the Luvabulls’ performance is highly unlikely. For some reason, the ESPNs and TNTs of the world would rather you listen to former ballplayers talk about what you have seen and tell you what you didn’t know (even though you actually might know). Oh, the humanity!
For those who would like to view/listen to Kafi, former Bulls standout Chet Walker and former Bulls coach Dick Motta, the link to the show is here. If if you don’t want to watch/hear, that’s still the link. Warning: The photo of Kafi with David and Elliott on the link — but don’t let that deter you from clicking onto it.
For those who would like to join the “Sports & Torts” fun by becoming an advertiser, contact David Spada at injuryinillinois.com. You’ll be glad you did. Or he’ll be glad you did. Maybe we’ll all be glad you did.
As an added bonus, Kafi took time to chat with Elliott Harris after the show so that we could have this video (how poetic, no?):
For the multitudes out there who are decrying this extreme emphasis on wonderful women in today’s editiion, here’s something that involves Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose and his new adidas shoes. OK, so maybe no multitudes; manybe a handful. But this is the least some of us can do to provide a little balance in an unbalanced existence. Or something like that.
